What the heck happened ? After Curse Of Chucky I thought they were going back to more of a darker tone closer to the the original Child's Play But instead I got this mixed up bag of crap

As the movies got noticeably cheaper, and while Don Mancini gained more creative control, the "Child's Play" franchise continued to get increasingly disappointing. "Cult of Chucky"(2017) might be the best example of Mancini squandering some potentially interesting ideas around the implications/fallout of "Chucky", but instead he repeatedly seems to take half-baked ideas and just throws them together in an ugly, generic, modern horror movie. Sadly, this makes for a frustrating and boring watch.

Sorry Bill, It's chucky still. It's lightyears better than the last film but it kinda sucks.

This was mostly disappointing. There are some fun, interesting ideas in there, but the script is so bad that's it's all just wasted potential. The structure and pacing were so off. There are some standout death scene. And there was one part that was absolutely hilarious to me, but it was generally devoid of humour - it's quite a dreary film, really. I truly wanted the best for this movie, so I hate to say it, but it's just not very good.

If the whole film were the last half an hour this could have been the second best in the series. IT has a pretty bad script and some of the worst acting in the series, but it's purposeful campiness and callbacks to the rest of the series leave it on much higher ground than some of the previous horror-fodder. I liked it quite a bit, but its still not quite at the level I'd like the series to be at.

C.O.C is a good example of why sometimes it isn't always advisable to entrust the original creators of franchises with the responsibility of continuing them. Mancini is once again shooting blanks, delivering another bland Chucky film that is cheaply made and lacks any sense of style or purpose. The deaths are gorier than usual, but they don't compensate for the obvious deficiencies elsewhere, including a dearth of funny one liners for Chucky, and the Marvel-esque finale is desperately clueless.

It is remarkable how consistent the Child's Play franchise is, largely thanks to having the same writer for the 7 films. While I prefer "Curse" over "Cult", this film's ending was such a home run (that is a baseball play for those who are wondering), that it made me rethink the entire film. Chucky now has smoked weed in two films. What a lil' bugger.

God bless Don Mancini, who has written 7 goddamn Chucky movies over 19 years, without ever rebooting or wiping the slate clean. All of Child's Play 1-7 has happened, in order, and is written in stone. And this movie is just determined to piss away all that hard work. Fiona Dourif continues to be great, but Cult is not the return to awesome that Curse was.

The joke has gone on for far too long. Cheap. Tired.

Cult of Chucky delivers some gory kills, funny lines and interesting character moments, but falls a bit flat on the plot department, specially by the third act.

Mancini once again delves into the deep and dark mythology of Chucky, playing around with new tropes intertwining them with a familiar formula all whilst maintaining its honour. Whilst not all of the goofy gore quite land you will be sure to find a gleeful spirit deep inside this (very) dark comedy.

Better than Curse because the last third ramps up the blood and guts, if this is the final Fiona Dourif movie it's actually a reasonable send off for what it is. Still feels like a terrible fan film for the most part.

This has some really unforgivably unnecessary stupid shit in it, yet overall I liked it. Fiona Dourif's resemblance to her father made the ending particularly enjoyable to me.

After being detained in an asylum for the criminally insane for four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is mistakenly convinced that she - and not Chucky - murdered her entire family. Her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic tool to facilitate group sessions with his patients: the "Good Guy" doll. A series of gruesome deaths start in the asylum. Nica starts to wonder if she's not crazy after all. Grown-up Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) comes to Nica's rescue, though he must first deal...

Wow that doctor was a douche. The story was a bit off and not in a good way, the acting wasn't terrible and the setting and score were both good but the effects and just about everything didn't work and detracted from my enjoyment. The Chucky doll was a bit off too as it didn't look right and his voice seem not quite right either but the worst thing about this movie was the terrible Chucky doll humor.

Chucky is just OP now. He can kill just by chanting a few words in a person's general direction. It's just stupid.

More interesting story than the previous, but it could have been a 45 min episode instead of a full film.

Some decent kills for series fans but overall it's pretty bad. Terrible use of one character in particular. Disappointing, but has some fun moments here and there. 5.2

A whopping 5 points for each joke that actually made me laugh. That's it really.
