Well this was dumb.

Straight-to-video 'true' serial killing story that treads familiar ground,giving you pretty much what you're expecting from the off. The low budget is exemplified by the second-rate acting (bar Henriksen),although the look aint too cheap and the direction does enough to hold your attention. The titular killer commands more sympathy than most too. I wasn't planning on seeing it in the first place and probably wouldn't sit through it again,but was pleasantly surprised it's as watchable as it is.

Mining the incest prohibition for laughs in what's essentially a light romantic comedy is a bold move, and for the first two-thirds of the movie, it works surprisingly well. But as long as the Duplasses are willing to go there, I can't help but wish they'd gone a little further.

This horror story is truly scary because it chronicles the real life story of a serial killer. The acting is reasonable. The many interjections of psychology experts giving their expert opinions disrupts the flow of the story. This movie does a good job of showing the horror and insanity of how this man saw the world and how he took it out on innocent people, but it does not delve into the collateral damage caused by it.

Okay. Neither really surprising in any way nor very innovative for a slasher movie.
