Daddy-Long-Legs

This is really awkward, particularly because of how it spends half the runtime with the lead as a little girl. It's also not a story I find very entertaining or sympathetic, and this particular adaptation emphasizes the creepier parts while stripping bare the interaction between the two leads.

Half childhood hijinks, half romance; all sweet. Pickford really is great with this kind of material where she starts playing the child and has to develop and mature as things progress, and she brings just the right mix of fun and depth to the role. The visuals are nice, if not quite as striking as some of her other collaborations with Neilan, and the artistic inter-titles are a nice touch. All in all, one of the most solidly comedic and fun pictures from Pickford's heyday.
