Juliette Binoche is delicious in this steamy affair. Good premise, settings, story, music, film quality, and performances. A fairly well-polished movie. Lots of tension, sex, and sneaking around. I disliked the near-complete lack of words involved in starting the affair and sex scenes with Juliette acting like a ragdoll. Jeramy Irons was a bit blank. Miranda Richardson was remarkably good in her supporting role. Overall, its a twisted satisfying story.

Another fine entry in the by now well-established subgenre of "Jeremy Irons gets laid with tragic consequences"-films. All around top flight acting, well handled by veteran Malle, although when the tragedy finally hit I had to stiffle a laugh. I don't know if this was because it was clumsily executed or because I'm such a monumentally terrible person. Possibly both.
