Damned If You Don't

An experimentally cinematic exploration of the lesbianism/Catholicism schism as told through: a reading of Judith C. Brown's 'Immodest Acts'; a video essay of Powell and Pressburger's 'Black Narcissus'; and a contemporary story of a civilian seducing a nun. The layering (auditory and visual) of these three elements by Friedrich is impressive, in particular the purposeful degrading of 'Black Narcissus' (shown here in grainy black-and-white), but it all comes across as forcefully avant-garde.
