Hollywood-Hungarian actor Paul Lukas fills the role as the foreign star in this British production. As his wife he's joined by an actress he'd be reunited with in Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes (1938), the very recognizable Linden Travers. This is a love triangle of the subtle kind with Hugh Williams as the man causing friction in the happy marriage. The most attractive aspect of Brief Ecstasy is the way it's shot. Stunning photography! Makes a rather dull story into food for the eyes.
