Fate deals young orphan Matt Murdock a strange hand when he is doused with hazardous waste. The accident leaves Matt blind but also gives him a heightened "radar sense" that allows him to "see" far better than any man. Years later Murdock has grown into a man and becomes a respected criminal attorney. But after he's done his "day job" Matt takes on a secret identity as "The Man Without Fear," Daredevil, the masked avenger that patrols the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen and New York City to combat the injustice that he cannot tackle in the courtroom. If you close your eyes real tight when this movie starts, you too can be a visually impaired superhero. Also, stick your fingers in your ears and ask smug questions, that should equip you as a top flight lawyer. You are also now prepared to be completely oblivious to the Affleckness of Daredevil.

Oh man. Up until I saw this I thought the Hulk was the classic example of superhero comic gone wrong, but.. At least the Hulk had the decency of being so bad it was funny. This is just genuinely so bad that you can't even make yourself laugh about it. You just sit there in awe and cannot comprehend the fact that you are watching this festering pile of shit. I absolutely recommend all copies of this to be burnt.

Extended cut: Enjoyable comic-book silliness feels like a bridge between the Burton/Schumacher years and Nolan's gamechangers; Johnson steals the best from both worlds and creates a charmingly old-fashioned adventure which still takes its characters (and its film-making) seriously; well cast with Affleck and Garner a fine team, and skinhead Farrell a scream as a psychotic henchman (perhaps inevitably, Duncan feels like an anti-climax by comparison). A terrific soundtrack is icing on the cake.

What a mess. Affleck is boring, Garner is outright horrible, but Farrell and Duncan ham it up and are really enjoyable. Plot is all over the place, the editing is annoying, the action generally sucks, and it's really cheesy. Probably one of the main reasons Marvel now has control over adaptations of their comics.

This movie inspired me to blind myself. Not because the protagonist is blind and yet a super-hero, but because it was so awful I never want to accidentally watch it again. The safest way to ensure that was to jam sharp objects into my eyes Oedipus style.

Top badass moment? For once, being covered in toxic waste isn’t all bad. Ben Affleck stars as the world’s most flat-chested double-D, who despite his disability (a way-too foppish Hugh Grant haircut), is able to stand like a superhero, fight weirdos, fail to get the girl and 'see' like a bat, which I'm sure explain his later promotion to Batman. The Director’s Cut of this film is actually a lot of fun and it also has a fab sound mix, so stop hating it - now! No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Let me name the things wrong with this film aside from Ben Affleck..really ugly wirework, lame action choreography, Jennifer "ladyboy" Garner, bad dialog, quick camera cuts, uninspired location, and terrible effects. The good? Well it's Daredevil in a movie..the concept is all there and the minor changes to the characters (aka. black Kingpin) don't detract much overall from something that is already a steaming turd.

Oh boy😂If you’re in to the whole edgy, emo side of superhero cinema, with Evanescence and silly fighting of teeter-totters, have at it! I don’t even know that’s it’s poorly cast, I just remember thinking it was silly as hell and not very gripping. At the time I thought Michael C. Hall would have made a solid Matt Murdock, but now I can’t imagine anyone but Charlie Cox playing the character. This isn’t horrible, but I won’t be revisiting it any time soon.

I will say that the director's cut makes this very watchable, not good, but watchable. This cut is borderline unwatchable. It's visually ugly, it's characters terrible, and plot a mess. So it's a lukewarm recommend for the director's cut and avoid this version as much as possible.

I don't hate this, but it definetly isn't a very good movie. The upside is Colin Farrell and Michael Clarke Duncan having a lot of fun in the villian roles, which almost makes up for the horribly wooden Affleck and Garner. The terrible action scenes and scatterbrained plot don't help matters.

*DIRECTOR'S CUT* The film gives you a good bond with the title character, but stays away from giving you such a connection with the other, more interesting characters, such as Elektra or the two villains. The action scenes, silly as they were, functioned in breaking up the drama, and were entertaining enough. I wanted to learn more about Daredevil, but the film didn't allow me to, only giving me clues that I had to base assumptions on. Daredevil is a competent action film.

Don't understand the hatred heaped on this film or Affleck. Pretty faithful to the overall noir and guilt atmosphere of the comic. Is the leather costume horrible? Yes. Would it have worked better if they had adhered closer to the comic's storylines and not rushed things? Probably. It's not perfect, but certainly not the disaster people seem to think.

Colin Farrell was one of the brightest spots in this whole movie. It was easy to imagine him as an insane Irishman that loves playing darts. I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Garner and Michael Clarke Duncan, but even they could not pull the boring script out of the gutter. I have never been a fan of Ben Affleck, but he was exceedingly lackluster in this movie. I need to see how much of this movie has been meme-ified.

It's always difficult to make a comic book superhero movie because you have to satisfy loyal and vocal hardcore fans but still appeal to a larger audience that doesn't know anything about the character at all. I've always been a big Daredevil fan and looked forward to the movie. Basically it was pretty good, but Ben Affleck was a poor casting choice, and the movie lacked the real gut-wrenching emotional pull of the comic's stories.

It's not as bad as expected, but that's not saying much. The comic book parts of the movie (the back story, action scenes, etc) are passable and sometimes even interesting. Unfortunately the rest of the movie falls flat and we're left with a movie that shows its potential and then pisses it away.

After watching the new series, this review comes more as a reflection. This is nowhere near the series, but this isn't a bad movie. In fact, I loved Clarke Duncan as Kingpin, and Affleck as Matt wasn't the issue. The main issues here lie in the writing, as some scenes and writing choices are horrifying (seesaw scene), but that doesn't mean Gardner isn't horrible enough to overlook. There is more good than bad here, but this is not the best Daredevil currently out by a longshot.

Daredevil is quite a bit better than I expected. I missed it in theaters because I didn't know a thing about the comic book hero, and because I didn't know Jennifer Garner was in it. It turns out to be nicely dark--darker even than the Dark Knight series--with interesting fight sequences and an intriguing romance-driven plot. I'm disappointed there isn't a sequel with the same protagonist.

If it wasn't for Ben Affleck's overdone monologue throughout the movie and the way too special effects heavy action scenes, Daredevil could have been a very likable super hero movie. The story is fine, and the whole film retains a lot of the style and story of the comics, so it has definite fan pleasing potential, but those previously mentioned vital flaws hold it is back. Meh!

The movie isn't completely without its moments -- there are some scenes that look fantastic, and some characters outshine the film's leads -- but the rest of the film is complete and utter garbage. Compare Daredevil to Marvel's other big film of 2003, X-2: X-Men United, and it's clear to see why so many people hated it. Even on its own merits, Daredevil is an absolute train wreck ... let's just hope that Netflix has a bit more success with the character.
