Fate deals young orphan Matt Murdock a strange hand when he is doused with hazardous waste. The accident leaves Matt blind but also gives him a heightened "radar sense" that allows him to "see" far better than any man. Years later Murdock has grown into a man and becomes a respected criminal attorney. But after he's done his "day job" Matt takes on a secret identity as "The Man Without Fear," Daredevil, the masked avenger that patrols the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen and New York City to combat the injustice that he cannot tackle in the courtroom. If you close your eyes real tight when this movie starts, you too can be a visually impaired superhero. Also, stick your fingers in your ears and ask smug questions, that should equip you as a top flight lawyer. You are also now prepared to be completely oblivious to the Affleckness of Daredevil.

Oh man. Up until I saw this I thought the Hulk was the classic example of superhero comic gone wrong, but.. At least the Hulk had the decency of being so bad it was funny. This is just genuinely so bad that you can't even make yourself laugh about it. You just sit there in awe and cannot comprehend the fact that you are watching this festering pile of shit. I absolutely recommend all copies of this to be burnt.

I was totally underwhelmed by this. Ben Affleck sucks, the story is no great shakes, and Daredevil himself never struck me as a particularly interesting character -- at least not the way he was presented here.

What a mess. Affleck is boring, Garner is outright horrible, but Farrell and Duncan ham it up and are really enjoyable. Plot is all over the place, the editing is annoying, the action generally sucks, and it's really cheesy. Probably one of the main reasons Marvel now has control over adaptations of their comics.

If you are to get anything positive out of this movie, it is the perhaps comforting notion, that even though you may go blind, you'll apparently always have a great hair-day.

Let me name the things wrong with this film aside from Ben Affleck..really ugly wirework, lame action choreography, Jennifer "ladyboy" Garner, bad dialog, quick camera cuts, uninspired location, and terrible effects. The good? Well it's Daredevil in a movie..the concept is all there and the minor changes to the characters (aka. black Kingpin) don't detract much overall from something that is already a steaming turd.

This movie inspired me to blind myself. Not because the protagonist is blind and yet a super-hero, but because it was so awful I never want to accidentally watch it again. The safest way to ensure that was to jam sharp objects into my eyes Oedipus style.

Oh boy😂If you’re in to the whole edgy, emo side of superhero cinema, with Evanescence and silly fighting of teeter-totters, have at it! I don’t even know that’s it’s poorly cast, I just remember thinking it was silly as hell and not very gripping. At the time I thought Michael C. Hall would have made a solid Matt Murdock, but now I can’t imagine anyone but Charlie Cox playing the character. This isn’t horrible, but I won’t be revisiting it any time soon.

I don't hate this, but it definetly isn't a very good movie. The upside is Colin Farrell and Michael Clarke Duncan having a lot of fun in the villian roles, which almost makes up for the horribly wooden Affleck and Garner. The terrible action scenes and scatterbrained plot don't help matters.

I will say that the director's cut makes this very watchable, not good, but watchable. This cut is borderline unwatchable. It's visually ugly, it's characters terrible, and plot a mess. So it's a lukewarm recommend for the director's cut and avoid this version as much as possible.

Extended cut: Enjoyable comic-book silliness feels like a bridge between the Burton/Schumacher years and Nolan's gamechangers; Johnson steals the best from both worlds and creates a charmingly old-fashioned adventure which still takes its characters (and its film-making) seriously; well cast with Affleck and Garner a fine team, and skinhead Farrell a scream as a psychotic henchman (perhaps inevitably, Duncan feels like an anti-climax by comparison). A terrific soundtrack is icing on the cake.

Top badass moment? For once, being covered in toxic waste isn’t all bad. Ben Affleck stars as the world’s most flat-chested double-D, who despite his disability (a way-too foppish Hugh Grant haircut), is able to stand like a superhero, fight weirdos, fail to get the girl and 'see' like a bat, which I'm sure explain his later promotion to Batman. The Director’s Cut of this film is actually a lot of fun and it also has a fab sound mix, so stop hating it - now! No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Ben Affleck is a superhero! Who's blind! But can see with freaky toxic waste induced sonar! Which somehow includes pupils of eyes even though sound wouldn't reflect on them any different! If this sounds like bollocks, that's because it is. Whilst possessing the required 'Big Action Set-Pieces' and Jennifer Garner looking lovely as always, it is only Colin Farrells for once appropriate over acting that gets this film out of the complete doldrums. That and the fact they followed this up with

This movie makes me cry. I love Daredevil. He's one of my favorite superheroes. I mean, a blind man who fights crime? Come on! What more could you want? If only the writer could have toned down the cliches a bit and maybe if I could have completely recast the thing, this movie would be salvageable. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Doesn't completely deserve the bad rep it's gotten (have you seen Elektra?) but still lacks the punch of a great comic book movie like the X-Men or Siperman movies. It does have it's moments, and a few great fight scenes, and a good performance from Jennifer Garner as Elektra. But ultimately it's silly.

It's not as bad as expected, but that's not saying much. The comic book parts of the movie (the back story, action scenes, etc) are passable and sometimes even interesting. Unfortunately the rest of the movie falls flat and we're left with a movie that shows its potential and then pisses it away.

Not the massive steaming turd that others make it out to be, but certainly not good. The romance that is meant to anchor the entire story has no life whatsoever, rendering the entire film meaningless. The visual realization of the hero's radar sense is cool, and Duncan is a great Kingpin. Otherwise, there's not much to love.

I came in hoping for a good, comic-book flick and ended up pretty dissapointed. Ben Affleck is so-so at playing DD, while Ferrel and Duncan both play convincing and memorable villians. If you want a better version, make sure you watch the unrated cut on DVD, it bumps the movie up 15 points to a 61.

If it wasn't for Ben Affleck's overdone monologue throughout the movie and the way too special effects heavy action scenes, Daredevil could have been a very likable super hero movie. The story is fine, and the whole film retains a lot of the style and story of the comics, so it has definite fan pleasing potential, but those previously mentioned vital flaws hold it is back. Meh!
