Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier

I used to watch this at my grandparents all the time

"Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier" hails from an era where cinematic tales transformed historical icons into larger-than-life figures. The movie unfolds like a vibrant comic strip come to life, brimming with exaggerated valor and abundant action, perfectly fashioned for a youthful audience. Its narrative thrives on bold exploits and a down-home charm that once captivated the imaginations of a generation.

Fairly bad but this sort of historical white washing was typical for this era of film.

One of the perils of depicting a character this straightforwardly heroic is succumbing to a kind of blandness, but Parker portrays Crockett with an element of lively humour. He's self-effacing and not simply brave, but also committed to fairness and honesty. It's simple stuff, but really good in it's simplicity. Buddy Ebsen is kind of a joy as Crockett's sidekick.

This is bad. Really bad. The Searchers bad... hell, its almost Mel Gibson bad. Fess Parker has the screen presence of a drowned sack of puppies.

Another classic live-action Disney flick. Lots of political incorrectness and movie magic.
