Maybe it's all the familiar names and faces behind this questionable "remake", but in the realm of terrible zombie movies, somehow this one ends up being both hot garbage and oddly watchable at the same damn time. Despite some so-bad-it's-good horror schlock charms, it's still something to easily never bother watching, and ultimately just meant for the niche cross-section of hardcore fans of zombies and Nick Cannon.

Hopeless. If you're going to remake a movie, remake it -- don't just steal a couple names, the title and a general idea (see Plot Summary). Nick Cannon does the best Will-Smith-in-Bad-Boys-2 impersonation his talents let him and Mena Suvari... well, when Mena Suvari is your last hope in a Zombie Apocalypse you know you're hooped. Lots of zombie mayhem and gore, though, so I was satisfied on that front.

One of the worst remakes ever. It basically just stole the title from the original and decided to do everything else different. Awful, all around.

Zombies that shoot guns, drive cars, jump like crickets and can crawl on the ceiling. And if that isn't enough to make you feel embarrassed for watching it, it also has a vegetarian zombie. I'm going to eat a juicy steak tonight just to cancel out that terrible, terrible idea.

Non-doctor Dude: "Why aren't we infected?" Doctor Dude: "Some people have immunity to the virus, but if you're bitten, it's all over." JUST SHOOT YOURSELF NOW! THERE'S NO STOPPING THE 'BITE FORM' OF THE VIRUS!!! All 18 points are for Ving Rhames eating his own eyeball.

Only shares a title with the boring overrated original, but it isn't as bad as most bad zombie movies. At least some of the characters demonstrate they have a brain stem. Nick Cannon lives entirely too long.

A loose and poor reimagining of Day of the Dead that manages to tarnish all of the mythos that George Romero created. I almost wept.

Um, wow. I really don't know where to go with this. If this were a stand-alone zombie flick, it had some merit being alright. But to even remotely call this a remake of Romero's Day of the Dead you've gotta be on some serious mind-altering substances. Previous remakes at least loosely followed originals, in that Romero's Dead series showed the progression of the zombies through the years. This one has the whole debacle occur during the movie and now the zombies are friggin fast and limber. WTBF?

Dull and mediocre zombie flick. Day didn't need to be remade, and this film proves it.

It's a pity that Ving Rhames' and Mena Suvari's careers have turned into living corpses, but if zombie movies have told us anything (reinforced here by Suvari's character coldly mowing down her own zombiefied mother while still refusing to let anyone dispatch her hapless zombiefied love interest whom she's known for 20 minutes) it's that the person you once knew just isn't there anymore. No sympathy for the dead.

I didn't last to the end, I didn't last half way through it. Starts off like a shit version of Stephen King's "The Stand". Not really a remake, just stand-alone shite.

Not so much a remake as a completely new movie, and anyone who reviews it should do so on it's own merit, rather than comparing it to others. A fairly average zombie movie, except in a few areas that it excels and you're going to have to watch to find out, hint: you've never seen a zombie there before.

"Remake", guess you gotta get funding how you can. Lacking scares, tension or decent laughs it just seemed completely unnecessary. Runner-type zombies are the least interesting and mean the famed Romero social critique here is simply a banal scientists & media = bad, military, family and vegetarians(!?) = good message.

Nowhere near the cinematic masterpiece of George Romero version, just bloodier and less coherent.Ving Rhames and Mena Suvari looked embarressed to be involved in it.

meh. One of the worst zombie films with a big budget I've ever seen. Was there any point in remaking this movie...and then having an entirely different...or completely lack of plot?

Love the fact Nick Cannon is in the movie, he does a decent job. Not that high of a budget. But if you love zombies, you should definitly watch it. Entertaining film

If they were going to redo this movie, they should have given the directorial keys to Zach Snyder (or someone that cared as much as him), since he was able to redo Dawn of the Dead and make it worthwhile. This film is forgettable tripe that's purely cashing in on the franchise name. Not that Romero's Day of the Dead was particularly good, but at least it was memorable.

Fine as far as zombie action movies go, but the big let down was the half-hearted attempt at preserving the idea of the Bud character and the message of the original. It seemed like they were going to see that idea through, albeit altered slightly, but then they abandon it completely just to have an unnecessary action sequence ending. Mena Suvari did about as good a job as she ever does , but Ving Rhames is only a bit part character and Nick Cannon does leave you wondering why he's not better.

Totally forgettable waste of time and an insult to the original, not even worth watching on its own merits. The dull stupid characters fail to make you care about their predicament, and the inclusion of the friendly zombie is done half-arsed and is amazingly convoluted. "He's a nice zombie and wont eat you because hes a vegetarian" Well of course! Hey movie, I think I saw some hippie zombies over there, but they'll be ok too because ya know, peace and love an all that. Fuck you movie.
