The general feel of the movie hits closer to home than I'd like with its depiction of daily routine, frustrations and acceptance, and that feeling of wishing you were doing more with your life. It does well in mixing all of that with darkish comedy, to make something that hits hard while making you laugh. Like a rough version of a Charlie Kaufman film. Some of the flights of fancy feel overindulgent and the film stumbles on some of the character interactions but overall I really enjoyed it.

The character of Adam captures the dark, depressive side of the everyman incredibly well. So outlandishly bleak that its hilarious. Watched it with my polish best friend and now that i know "the prayer of the pole" ive learned to be more careful around him

My first acquaintance with work of Koterski, but not the last. Absurdist existential dramedy with that unmistakable eastern-European tang that leaves a desire to take a hot bath. Recognizing yourself in the hero of this film is strangely comforting at first (hey, perhaps everyone sometimes feels this way), but Koterski is merciless and it gets harder and harder to laugh, and at the end I found myself curled up in a ball, rocking back and forth and sobbing uncontrollably.

Amusing tale of an OCD-suffering miserable git having a mid-life crisis. Containing lots of well-observed humour, there's at least one thing here we can all relate to. Loses its way a little after the beach scene, but that's just more likely to promote a repeat viewing. You don't have to have lived in Poland to appreciate this one, but it helps.

A very good picture of Polish reality (the best scenes were the ones of reading Gazeta Wyborcza and travelling by train - so true). Unfortunately, using trzynastozgloskowiec doesn't make a masterpiece. Well, my Polish teacher never got that either.
