Daylight's End is a very generic feeling zombie movies featuring a geriatric Lance Henriksen, who might be old, but he's still B-movie gold. Unfortunately, despite acceptable production values and relatively decent action, the movie couldn't help but drone on and on with nothing seeming to happen except zombies getting killed, and even that had all the fun taken out of it by the horrendous one minute music track being played repeatedly featuring pounding drums and droning single guitar notes.

Looks competent enough on the surface, but the non-characters, blue-tinted basement locations and bland antagonist zombie-vampire-whatevers turn the happenings on-screen into a samey white noise experience. Oh look the dark-clothed people are once more shooting dark-clothed bad people on a blue parking lot, how droll. Henriksen's totally wasted in this, which might be this paintballer-LARP-movie's most unforgivable offense.

Yet another zombie apocalypse but with abysmal dialog. Stolen and stupid plot points with little to no creativity. Johnny Strong was not a very charismatic lead. Louis Mandylor was good. It was kind of nice to see great grand dad Lance Henriksen sell his ~75th B-movie role. In order to hear the dialog the music was obnoxious and overbearing. Lots of cherry red pie filling, snarling black faces. It has a few good moments but is mostly quite tedious.

The characters were likeable, made smart decisions, and were reasonably and realistically prepared. The dialogue felt practical and genuine (mostly). The characterization was a little lacking in places but felt like enough overall. Action was competently shot and easy to follow. There was no shaky cam. Gun play and combat tactics felt genuine. Directing, editing, acting, plot, and pacing were fine. There was 1 lame jump scare that needed to be cut. Overall, much better than expected.

Another fast paced zombie movie. Too bad the action is monotonous. My review here : http://opinion-as-a-moviefreak.blogspot.be/2016/08/daylights-end-2016.html
