I don't really get the low scores. For most of the running time, Dead Birds was pretty decent. Creepy location, creepy kids, creepy ambient music. I also enjoyed the time period, haven't seen too many 'cowboy versus supernatural terrors' stories. Ends kinda weak, but I definitely got my fair share of goosebumps from this one.

Horror movies aren't my thing. Suspenseful horror movies do unfortunate things to my brave manliness. The first time I watched this I cowered in my chair with my hands over my eyes... like a man.

Promising in the beginning but overall a letdown. The story had much potential but wasn't explored enough for my taste. Also, Dr Burke, y u no operate on gunshot wound?!

Video review: https://youtu.be/U41Wlkoqw_g A great cast squandered on a mediocre script told with poor direction and editing. The ambient soundscapes and "spooky" music are extremely grating and mixed far too loud to the point where they drown out much of the dialogue at points. The flashes of CGI stick out horribly and aren't even used to execute anything that couldn't have easily been done using practical effects.

Efficient horror film holds no surprises, and as with many similar entries, the more we learn about the supernatural, the less scarier it becomes, but Turner is to be credited for wringing nearly every drop of low-budget tension from Barrett’s screenplay, complemented by fine performances from his cast who make the most of the material. The civil war setting (and Washington), promise a more ambitious reckoning with racial politics, which never quite materialises (outside of some awkward slurs).

Exceptionally good acting and visuals for a straight to DVD flick.

gosh! we seen it all before way too many times. old houses with tragic events leading to restless ghosts killing whoever enters. It's so outdated! And why the title is named dead BIRDS is beyond me... as far i could tell exept from one dead bird lying on the ground it's got nothing to do with it. I agree there's some decent visuals but thats about it.

for a low budget b-movie it's actually pretty well made, and really scary, you should at least give this movie a chance, it's worth a watch.

Made for TV quality direction and some R rated gore, in a movie that seems to be aiming for suspense but wound up boring me to sleep. There's nothing engaging about the civil war era characters or the sprawling ghetto farmhouse where nothing happens. Problems like the lack of geography, random scattering of characters and the cliche "picked off one at a time" slasher antics made this fall far short of the ambitious chiller it set out to be.

A twisted little tale with a rather interesting setting with Confederate soldiers having civil war era premarital sex and getting shredded by some weird demon-thing. Despite the spirited camerawork and ambition it still can't seem to pull away from the almighty horror cliche orbit. From the first 30 minutes it looked like it was really going somewhere but kind of fizzled. A film that at least tries to be a little different is still preferable to the dozens of craptastic slashers.

Good location with some decent atmosphere, but fails to lead much of anywhere. That cast is great, but they are only allowed to just kind of wander around in the dark.

It's a shame for some of the CGI, but otherwise, not too bad for the budget they had. They use the set well
