"Dude, you were dead!" "Pfff. Like dying could kill me." The Soskas' debut is very obviously zero-budget and powering through on pure enthusiasm, but that, a politely Canadian disregard for good taste, and a healthy helping of raw talent goes a long way.

This flick kept reminding me, oddly enough, of "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls"--though with NO budget and no discernible production values. The big difference is that BTVOFTD was trying to be "art" (I think...), and this... definitely isn't. So close to being a camp classic, yet it doesn't quite make it. I suspect the Soska sisters are just a tad too nice... it needs the touch of a bitchy queen--or ten.

If Dead Hooker in a Trunk's title doesn't automatically cross the film off in your mind, and if low-budget aesthetics, a ton of profanity and violence, and a sick sense of humor endear you to a project, this might be a movie for you. This is an adventure movie that goes to prove how far a severely limited budget can be stretched. It's crude and a lot of fun. It's a film for a limited audience, but I can only guess that the talented Soska sisters wouldn't have it any other way.

I have a huge amount of respect for the Soska sisters. What they've achieved in their short career, with the money they have, is nothing short of spectacular. They're also incredibly humble and friendly, something rare in the horror business. So I may be biased in my appreciation of this due to the fact I could watch them in anything, but I think it's a fun debut, nothing groundbreaking but it's a welcome way to pass 90 minutes, especially with friends.

Everything in this movie is irritating. The acting, the music, the actresses ugly sharp faces, the stupid script. JUST. IRRITATING. I'm fuzzy on genres, but I think this is supposed to be mumblehouse (mumblecore trying to be grindhouse).

Sometimes Idon't know if a movie is just BAD or self-aware bad, and that changes my view on a movie. This movie seems very self-aware, a grindhouse flick, so the lines become more clever. This is summed up in the end with a line I was a big fan of, "I can't believe there were no repercussions for what we did" (possible mis-quote). Anyway, decent acting, though I feel the script could have been a bit tighter. Cheesy effects (that's to be expected) and it's an entertaining black comedy/h
