An artist is blinded by a jealous assistant/model. His fiance's father generously offers his eyes for a sight restoring operation. there's only one hitch. Chaney has to wait until after the man dies. This is the first I've seen of the Inner Sanctum Mystery series. It's not bad, but definitely feels like a cheap B film. The machinations of the male characters in trying to maneuver things to their end can be interesting to watch, and the mystery itself comes off pretty well.

The 3rd of the "Inner Sanctum" series sees an upgrade in actors and production values, as the gimmick turned out to be a success for Universal. People seemed to love following the tragedies of Lon Chaney Jr., and honestly the atmosphere suited him. Here as a artist turned blind by acid and accused of murder. A very polished story and the best one yet, as the series met it's halfway point.
