Every single zombie movie up to this point has taken place in either sunny California (even when they claim it's Wisconsin, Dawn of the Dead 2004) or wintry Pennsylvania, but filmed during the summer. So the questions surrounding zombies and snow were finally answered. No one had asked them though, so they threw in a cabin plot to capitalize off of the cabin genre. As far as that goes, it is a decent looking cabin. When it comes to the snow zombies, let's just say that I am relieved to understa

Norwegian horror flick about a bunch of students in a remote mountain cabin who get attacked by a horde of Nazi zombies. Wildly inconsistent...sometimes it goes for creeping dread, at other times the camp factor is off the scale. Sometimes the zombies are lumbering and stupid, sometimes they're organized and lightning fast. Still, a few cute girls and ridiculous amounts of goopy gore, so it's not a waste of time or anything.

not sure what other people got from this, but I wasn't seeing it. I thought this was pretty boring for what should have been a hell of a lot more interesting. feels like people like this more for the premise than the actual movie. Nazi zombies is fun to say. not really fun to watch though. I was very underwhelmed, especially since this movie received so much praise that a sequel was made.

Early on, a horror movie buff character name checks Evil Dead when explaining how isolated the leads are. That gives you an idea of what you're in for; something targeted towards nerdy teenage boys who love gore & have too much time on their hands. Cinematically it does some cool things--like the campfire story and location filming. But it doesn't go far enough in exploring how Nazi era horrors still exist. And while it can be funny, it poorly handles the tragic parts. Marginal recommendation.

Dead Snow seems unsure of what it wants to be.. an atmospheric horror set in a remote location or an over the top gorefest. In the end it's an average zombie movie with some inspired moments and decent gore but probably easily forgotten.

After a half an hour of innertubing, sledding, and X-treme snowmobiling, we finally get to see some Nazi zombies...though I believe 'undead' is a more appropriate term for the corporal state of the film's plucky antagonists. Some of the kills are quite entertaining, but it quickly becomes obvious that the director has some sort of fetish involving offal, as many of the scenes involve intestines, both large and small, mind you.

A complete waste of the premise. No laughs, no expansion on the Nazi thing besides the uniforms, no innovative zombie killing - just chainsaws and a whole bunch of intestine pulling. My DVD copy skipped about 20 minutes and I'm kind of grateful.

So much wasted potential. I mean how awesome could a nazi zombie flick be. Story doesn't even maky any use of the fact that they are nazis. They might as well have been regular zombies. Director is shitty, story is shitty, characters are annoying and zombies fight like regular people. I have to admit that there was 1 minute of awesomness but that was too little too late.

In a perfect vacuum this is pretty bad ass. Norwegians have a blacker sense of humor so it has a wider swing between suspense and comedy than most American films dare to do. However we don't live in a vacuum. But let's face it the glut of zombie flicks piled onto us have formed such a high altitude this is something of a brisk breath of fresh air. With more of a ghost story focus and unique mountain setting this brings to mind Carpenter's Fog where we should just be happy to have zombie pirates.

An epic disappointment, who doesn't like zombies? Who doesn't like dead Nazis? Put them together and you should get a magical conjuring of everything that life should be, and you should be able to die happy right? Not right! The zombie action is sparse and only, at times, satisfying gun-play comes in at the end, but it's simply not good enough to save this uneventful movie.

What could have been an interesting (if not entirely original) premise is squandered on a movie that can't decide if it wants to be part of the new wave of generic horror or an over-the-top gorefest in the Raimi/Jackson tradition. Ultimately the film fails to reach either goal; the first half is a bundle of slasher film cliches, while the last half of the film ventures into Dead Alive territory, only with poor special effects and some genuinely retarded plot developments.

One of the best zombie films made in recent memory. On top of that, a film that actually does "nazi zombies" justice. Its been tried before, but this one succeeded. Easily the most gory film i've seen in awhile. Not in English, so be prepared to read, although i bet there is an English version in the works. Hopefully they don't tone it down. Only thing lacking was the boobs.

Strenght of this zombie flick is that it knows it's audience - movie geeks, basement dwellers and so on. Just an idea of the Norwegian film with zombies, who are also nazis is enough to make taget audience drool. Sadly, this film manages to get boring despite the fact that guts and brains fly freely and zombies gets killed off with chainsaw and hammer. If you are die-hard zombie flicks fan - check it out, if you aren't - don't bother.

Dead Snow is a film that worked intermittently, but didn't wind up being all that enjoyable. The horror and comedy mixture largely didn't work, which makes it really difficult to give this a recommendation. It also didn't make all that much sense, although in retrospect that's probably part of the parody that they were going for. I just didn't have much fun here. whether it be being scared or laughing, I just didn't get enough to make it worth my time.

Nazi Zombies!! A loose and splattery homage to the Raimi/Jackson brand of ultra-stylised gross-out horror never tops its wonderful opening that manages to be equal parts bone chillingly creepy and cheekily irreverent, and works best before the ultimate menace becomes clear. Once it becomes clear that we are degenerating into the grotesquerie of mindless blood and gore, it loses its fun flavour, becoming tiresome and redundant, though the cast’s “all-in” performances make it a semi-fun watch.

There are a few good scenes of gore (see especially the film nerd being torn to pieces), but it's not enough to make this into something really enjoyable. I enjoyed "Dead Snow", despite low expectations going in. It's ostensibly a zombie movie, but it's structured like a slasher flick and the zombies are far more intelligent than they should be. The characters aren't interesting- and the film buff is outright annoying- and the pace lags during the first half. I nevertheless had a great time with the mayhem during the flick's second half.

'Dead Snow' follows the rule that if you mention that you're ripping something off, it's not a rip-off, but an homage. 'Evil Dead' and 'Friday the 13th' are mentioned and 'Dead Snow' faithfully follows their conventions, as well as others. The beginning does take a little while to establish the backstory, but once that's done, the film gets brutal and exhilarating. The kills are comically over-the-top and the banter, however sparse, keeps things chipper in even the most tense situations.

Pretty standard slasher fare, with the teens taking a trip to a cabin in the woods (or mountains in this case) and summarily being attacked. Pretty fun zombie movie. It tried to do new things with the zombie genre...some good some bad. Inconsistencies with the plot made it a bit uneven and I felt they took a few too many liberties with zombie mythos (fast, rational thinking, killed but didn't eat). Overall, it's a great concept that was done o.k. that's worth a watch for some great gore scenes and some fun bits.

I wanted to like this so much more than I did, the concept alone (Nazi zombies, back from the dead to hoard their precious gold) should warrant a positive review. But the movie stumbles in execution, with a bunch of characters it's tough to care much about, and a sliding set of rules in terms of what the zombies are capable of. The zombie make-up is ultimately cheap-looking and unconvincing, which doesn't help things either. It's passably entertaining, but a disappointment to be sure.

After the inspired and hilarious pre-credit sequence using 'In The Hall of The Mountain King', it's disappointing how safe and uninteresting the rest of the film is. Like a lot of post-Millennium horror cinema, it's a solid movie but merely a regurgitation of horror conventions and references which never braves its own path of gore or kicks the viewer in the genitals. Considering this is part of a first wave of Norwegian horror, its plainness misses the point of such a movement.

Once the characters realize the kind of movie they're in, it has a couple good moments and is finally injected with some fun. But the rest has no logic, is entirely too self-aware (even for a freaking zombie film) and one-note. But again, the one-note does happen to be 'Zombie Nazis after Jew Gold'. That's an automatic Win.
