Great and ultra brutal as the game. Gallons of blood, and someone has to pick up the pieces. Loved it !

Good backstory for the game, possibly not that interesting if you don't plan on playing or have played the game.

Adds absolutely nothing to the story from the game. Dont bother.

It is what it is, an animated prelude to a video game. No one bent over backwards here trying to make a masterpiece or break new ground. Enjoy it for what it is.

sticks true to the subject matter, almost to a fault. i really dont have much bad to say about it, great idea, one that could have been one of the best sci-fi/horror crosses ever. if only it had been a big budget live action movie with impeccable writing/acting/direction, this would be a drastically important movie, but as it is it could only fill a niche that only a select few can appreciate.

Trite in the extreme. I literally could identify not only who dies next, but how. I wanted more, but it just drags and adds nothing to the genre of sci-fi monster movie.

One of the closest thing to animated horror. All it has to offer is a lot of blood and gore.

Surprisingly good considering that it's not much more than a video game prequel. The animation is average and the plot is similar to a lot of other films, but overall it's a fun horror flick that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Taken as a stand alone entity, Downfall is a generally mediocre affair with some decent artwork and a plotline stereotypical for the genre. However it also feels flawed when viewed as a supplement to the very enjoyable Dead Space video game, at some points directly contrasting the main plotline just as much as it adds backstory to it.

Not really into video games too much, but I thought that this movie was alright. There aren't too many animated horror movies out there, so I really wanted to like this. Animation was good, the voices were alright. Decent enough watch.

Hmm... I guess movie would only be worth watching after having played the game. The action is decent but sparse. And with the story the were given they could have done a lot more.

I really like the anime style, but there are a few parts that could have been animated better. Also, a few liberties have been taken. This is really for those who played the game since this fills in some backstory. But since it is backstory, it isn't necessary to have played the game.

Completely pointless animated prequel that serves no purpose to exist as you can pretty much piece together the events prior to the first game for yourself without even watching this. Better than most animated video game cash-ins.

The script is terrible, and the animation is lackluster. It misses all opportunities of building on the game's creepy and intense atmosphere, opting instead for the action movie route with a principled, tough female lead who has a "get it done or die trying" attitude. How original.

Could have been a lot worse. For starters, I'll say this is not a good movie. It's just missing (some) decent animation and writing. Should please fans of the gaming franchise (me) but seemed pretty light on storytelling in spots. I did enjoy watching it, about this much. It's very brutal and extremely violent (like the game). Expect that I guess. Strictly for those who like the franchise. Depressing final act.

Even if I've never played the game, I could easily guess how it would end, so the predictability sort of spoiled the tension and ending.

The game is obviously way better, but this is not as bad as it could've been, ig (or maybe I'm just biased 'cause i love the Dead Space franchise)
