A lousy attempt to turn a film made out of interconnected stories into some sort of study of family issues. Deadfall is also underdeveloped as an action film, with so many unintentionally hilarious bursts of violence and seduction and even incest that it finally becomes impossible to take anything seriously.

Meh. It may look promising from the looks of the trailer, but Deadfall is overall captivating but also lacks in several parts. Really flimsy. Bana's alright.

Very stupid. Everything should be thrown out except the beginning.

Deafall is a mediocre movie bookended by a couple of great moments and containing a pretty solid cast with which the filmmakers do little. It's atmospheric -- the snow, I'm led to believe, is real -- and shot well, but the plot isn't anything new and the characters grow progressively less interesting as the film moves along. It's not thrilling and it's not engaging. It belongs on VOD.

I believe Deadfall was originally the story of a guy who got out of prison, he seemingly killed someone, went back to his parents house, along the way met a woman, and they fell in love. Then the film studio exec realized that that plot was boring so one guy at the meeting stood up and said, "Hey how about we have the woman be in an incestuous relationship with her brother?" The executives all nodded their heads and shook hands while chomping cigars. In my mind, that is how this movie was made.

it was mostly the originality of the action settings that had me give the passing grade to the movie. One also does fear for the innocent characters with the way the main thief is unhinged. But otherwise, the characters are not that convincing overall. The boxer is bland a bit, and the male cops seem to be caricatures with how obnoxious and cartoonish they are

The best part is the intro, but then it just goes downhill from there.

Not entirely forgettable, although the director was pretty novice. There was some okay acting, but I'm not talking about Eric Bana. The story was predictable from the start and did not offer any surprises.

Hated it. Total crap. The acting is bad. Everything feels forced and what s up with the CGI snow? Drove me bananas.

I wasn't initially impressed with this movie but it slowly wears on you. I couldn't get over the very strange relationship between Bana and Wilde. I also didn't understand the weird premonition the little girl says to Bana in the cabin. What I did understand was that this film had some TENSE moments. I especially love the Thanksgiving table scene at the end. wow. The movie as a whole wasn't bad but it won't win any awards. The end was just so enjoyable that it really made the movie fun.

For a film that seems to take itself seriously there were a lot of randomness and ridiculousness in the script; a decent cast deserved better - and there was potential in the story for that as well. *Preview*: #13#, exp-3*, story, actresses, R2.

Seemed promising but then just slowed to a meh. Eric Bana and Olivia Wilde were hot (both superficially and acting wise). Hunnam's character was pretty irritating though.

Why does one sibling have an Australian accent and the other doesn't? Dumb, implausible story and even worse script-writing. An utter waste of a couple of decent actors (not Bana).

Not a bad one, but not a masterpiece as well, you can see what the would be like mile away, so there was no surprise at the end. Acting wasn't coll as well.

Good pacing and atmosphere. The plot seems to be a little bit out of left field, and Bana's character is very strange/brutal with very little explanation. But it's an interesting story, decently acted.

Feels like they left half of the backstory out. Decent nonetheless

The film's writer hates fathers and hates men in general. The incest angle was actually the boldest and most interesting aspect. Of course they chickened out and didn't develop it more.

Apparently, this is getting a cinema release in the UK. I have no idea why. It was decent entertainment, but if the entire film had been the last 20 minutes or so, it would've been better.

Nicely paced thriller with just the right amount of action not to turn it into another Bourne clone. Worth your time.

For all that its study of broken and maladjusted families hits smack-dab on the head, it also builds and gradually converges in ways that lift Deadfall above many of its conventional peers. This snowbound crime melodrama sets its plot in motion with some invigorating jolts in its first few minutes and gathers a tense undercurrent, Shane Hurlbut's visuals are as ravishing as they are eerie, and the surprising cast is able, skillfully defined and specifically detailed.
