You can see where the plot goes from a relative mile away, within 10 minutes there's a hallucinogenic taken on the pretense it's something else, which is a really tired gag. However Alan Tudyk is absolutely hilarious and makes what could've been terrible absolutely hilarious. Yes some of the plot is forced to provide "oh man this is awkward humor" but a lot of that humor is very funny. Quite good film but nothing new, insightful or really amazing.

I remember renting this just because it seemed kind of different from all the other films at my local movie rental place. Very happy with this random pick up. I like a lot of the actors (specifically Dinklage and Tudyk) and the humor did strike a chord with me for some reason. Has lots of types of jokes from big physical gags to edgy jokes to some morbid black humor. Most people won't like it as much as me, but absolutely think there is something in here that everyone can enjoy.

It is very funny and somewhat endearing, but there is nothing that makes this movie stand out too much. Most everything has been done before and while this film is still funny with old gags it also doesn't give it much room to become a break through in anything. Alan Tudyk was probably the best part of this film and worth seeing just for his role alone.

Amusing, if disposable, farce. The cast is quite good with a lot of "oh there's that guy from that thing with the thing in it" actors. Tudyk stands out, but his predicament gets a little tiring. The funeral setting really should have injected some darker humour for much needed bite.

The definition of farce. Silly situation, mistaken identities, mistaken intentions, embarrassing consequences. This was fairly entertaining, but overall underwhelming.

Funny stuff. Alan Tudyk is great, and the rest of the fairly large and british cast is also good for the most part. It's funny throughout even when it's not being particularly clever, and the last 20 minutes are great.

I expected this to be crazy, ridiculous and fun. I was wrong. It started off pretty well -some feel-good tunes, some witty lines, some funny scenes, some very British accents. But then, it derailed. The only ridiculous thing about it was its predictability. Every single line, every single gag, every single meaningful funeral speech was so awfully predictable. A farce is at least supposed to be unpredictable, right? After all, the only admirable thing about this one are the British accents.

Not as deadpan as you might think. Well made, just not my cup of tea. Still, ultimately heartwarming, in spite of the main gag falling flat by being overplayed.

Not to be confused with the remake coming out in 2010, this is funny as hell nearly all the way through up until the end when it gets serious, which was ok too. The punchline near the end for the running gag, had me rolling in the aisles. Frank Oz has the touch.

Very entertaining and satisfying, for once a British comedy film gets close to the heights of something like Fawlty Towers. It's not quite on that high level but shows numerous times the kind of interlinkage and complexity that raises a comedy above being just a collection of gags. Good performances from all the cast. Nice casting, script and direction. Best British comedy in some years.

Was forced to watch this by my sister complaining we never let her pick the movie for movie night. After watching this, the rest of the family knew why we never let her pick. She was the only one to enjoy it and the rest of us were left begging her to let us turn it off and watch something else.

A light delight, which is saying something unique given its premise. I don't usually try to see things coming ahead of time with films, but this time my brain couldn't stop foreseeing everything. That doesn't mean the script isn't great, but it would have benefited from some surprises or harder-hitting comedy. Still, a recommended farce for the right mood.

How many times can you misplace a bottle of pills?? Like a long, rather tame, British television comedy--one with a few naughty words in it. It even LOOKS like a television show (though most British movies from this time period do, for some reason)...granted, a fairly amusing one. Alan Tudyk is great, and even bound and gagged, Peter Dinklage always manages to be the most interesting actor on the screen.

I felt like this was an American director trying to do British comedy for Americans who don't get British comedy. They had good actors, a fine story, but the jokes were all so telegraphed, and as Jonathan Lethem called it, tugboated (humor killed by over-emphasizing the fact that a joke is being made) that it was an utter waste of time.

An above average comedy that delivers in laughs where it fails in narrative focus. Though most of the gags are predicatble, stand-out performances (including a particularly brilliant one from Alan Tudyk) help to keep the punchline funny even though you may know what's coming. Though the film keeps piling outlandish situations upon outlandish situations, after a certain point you start asking yourself is there a point to all this? Save this one for a rental.

It's a great piece of farce, helped by the pompous setting and characters. This movie simply wouldn't of worked if the funeral was a standard everyday affair, rather than a play on stereotypical Englishness. The plot and script aren't the most original and won't bring anything new to the table, but the comic performances are spot on. Probably won't linger in the memory too long, but very enjoyable while it lasts.

A very British flavor reminding me of Fawlty Towers, minus the John Cleese touch and had John Cleese wandered into this funeral, he would have been right at home. A downside would be that it requires some patience. The first half (40 minutes-ish) is a little lackluster and laughs are slow. Flaws are easily forgiven when a movie makes me laugh as much as this one. The climax is nothing short of hilarious. Kudos to Vaughan (handicapped old man) who has a profane expression for every situation.
