Watching this, I realized how much I missed a good demonic possession / gorefest / comedy hybrid. It's not high art, but it goes gleefully over the top with obvious inspiration taken from Raimi and early-Peter-Jackson material. Creative/practical effects, more bloodfountains than The Fountain 2: The Bloodening, nudity and metal... I mean, damn, where do I sign? Oh, in blood? Coolcool. No, I don't need a soul anyway. Pleasure doing business!

It's been twenty years of seeing New Zealand regularly churn out clever, witty, and downright awesome horror/comedies and I have no clue how American producers haven't caught on and shipped crates of money over to where the geniuses live, rather than import the filmmakers and taint their abilities with the greedy sludge running through the veins of Hollywood. If you like the genre, "Deathgasm" delivers in spades, and gallons of blood and guts.

What is sure to be a cult classic in 20 years, this is a gory and dumb film that tries too hard but ultimately doesn't succeed in reaching it's goal. It's watchable, for sure, and although it has some cool scenes, it falls just short of being good, much like another New Zealand cult classic, Peter Jackson's "Bad Taste" Remember kids....a few cool scenes does not a good movie make!

I take my metal like I take my comedy like I take my coffee like I take my favorite Beatles song about a bird like I take my comedians named Lewis like I...

Awesome practical effects, witty humor, a soul-shredding soundtrack, and the slaughter of a daemon-possessed step-mom with a giant dildo--yes, the newer of the Zealands just showed us how you make a movie about the Satanically mind-blowing effects of metal. Hollywood tried and the unholy result was The Pick of Destiny...and it sucked Kyle Gass's balls.

Although the movie's charms wear thin as the film progresses, overall the movie makes for a delightfully watchable, campy, Kiwi, metal, splatterfest horror/comedy.

It is not a good movie, but at the "terrible films festival" I have seen this one, it certainly was a lot of fun to watch. As others mention though, it is not remarkable in any way, and probably will not be a classic. Although using dildo as a weapon is something you do not see every day.

How can you rate a film that is less a film and more a collection of "cool" scenes set to a heavy metal soundtrack? You can't, Criticker user. Stuff happens, but the focus is clearly on the CGI gore. The film is called "Deathgasm". I hope you aren't expecting "Citizen Kane". In conclusion, I had fun watching some parts, and less fun watching others.

Like "The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton" crossed with "Braindead". Lots of blood, lots of heart, loud as fuck and hardly a dull moment. Hail Satan.

As a metalhead who appreciates stupid comedy and horror, I should be the perfect demographic for this but I was left underwhelmed. Too many jokes completely missed the mark, and the dialogue is frequently garbage. While the basic plot outline is enjoyably stupid, there were a number of mis-steps in the narrative which makes me think there could have been a much better film here with a couple of re-writes.

Great concept and the soundtrack is excellent but toward the end it felt like I was watching an Evil Dead movie only with dildos. I seriously doubt the effectiveness of sex toys when battling demon possessed undead minions.

Tries to be SCOTT PILGRIM for metalheads, ultimately fails. Some good one liners, my favorite being "That tongue wasn't meant for Latin!"

I'm little tired of all sex accessories in comedy films and fuck jokes, but +20 for death metal theme.

It's your typical 'teens inadvertently raise an evil supernatural force' story, but with a Kiwi/metal twist. I really enjoyed how it was both a parody of and a love letter to metal music culture in New Zealand. I also really liked that it had that indie, NZ vibe to it, while not feeling amateurish. The script has a bunch of funny moments in it, the gore effects were awesome very well done, and you could tell they had a whole lot of fun making the film, too.

When you're in the mood for some blood, gore, dildos, and rotting demons from hell, this is the movie for you. It's very cheesy and stupid. Kimberley Crossman was a nice addition. Most of the comedy is dark and bloody. The plot is hardcore brutal and idiotic. Worthwhile, if you have the stomach for it.

Seems like a movie a lot of shit got cut out of. Decent kiwi splatter comedy, though.

Horror comedies should be funny first and foremost, this just doesn't cut it. There's a rickroll joke at one point that didn't have the balls to actually go through with the joke all the way or didn't have the funds to license 3 seconds of Never Gonnna Give You Up, and that sums up the whole film no guts or budget

Yet another fetishization of 80s comedies. So cringeworthy, it's unwatchable.

This movie was quite disappointing. I had heard mostly glowing reviews for this movie but I just found it unfunny and dumb. Dildo, fart and gay jokes aren't funny and the story is a poorly done cliched mess.

This is not a film with a hefty budget, but the gory effects work is pretty stunning. Clearly inspired by Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson, there's a lot of intense, gory demon fighting with a creative comic edge to it. It's damn fun and pretty good. Worth noting: It's a heavy metal themed horror movie that made by people who actually know quite a bit about the music.

I found this kind of sweet in the first half and then it revs up into full Raimi/Jackson town and really goes for it. Lots of fun
