Ludicrous time-waster thriller is at least silky and attractive (thanks to luscious cinematography) and agreeably performed, though it goes on too long laying out the final 'twist' and the ultimate story direction is pretty obvious from the get-go (and *SPOILER* the poster makes it pretty clear, even before you enter the theatre!). At its best in its establishing scenes, and marked by a truly bizarre, out-of-left-field cameo by Rampling.

Jackman is solid, but the movie is only slightly better than crap.

Deception is a by-the-numbers thriller that gets worse and worse as it tries ever so hard to stay ahead of its audience by using outdated plot points and a lack of, for failing to find a better word, deception. It doesn't throw anything new into the mix, and while it was well-shot and decently acted, it has little to keep you entertained. The worst part is that it's not even quite bad enough to laugh at or put you to sleep. For a thriller, it's surprisingly boring, and it's not worth your time.

Nothing to be remembered about, but I wasn't completely bored either.

With the stars involved, I thought hells yeah. But it was pretty dang boring.

Promising beginning, good chemistry between leading actors, good mood. But the story itself is predictible and looses all sharpness towards the end and the conclusion is total failure. And the title spoils absolutely everything!

"Deception"? Why not just title it "Nothing You're Watching is What It Appears to Be." More proof that any movie where Ewan McGregor attempts an American accent is a bad movie.

Something was off. It should feel like a heist movie with all the adrenaline exciting us but there is none of that. Direction, montage... I don't know. A pity because we have three good actors.

Despite what the title might suggest it's very predictable.

Pretty decent entry into the erotic thriller sub-genre. The visuals and flow/feel of the film are quite good for the genre, lots of dark scenes. The story is pretty good, but perhaps a little too predictable. McGregor, Jackman and Williams are good in their roles and there are some hot ladies in as well.

Not a very good movie... I watched it for Jackman, but it was extremely lackluster. The twists really were predictable. I mean they just about laid it out for you while only pretending to keep it a secret.

The set-up is great, but it just doesn't pay off. At all.

predictable and obvious pretty much all the way through, no subtlety at all. Very drawn out and a lot of scenes felt just plain unnecessary. It was kind of sexy I guess, the premise was interesting enough, acting was good enough.

One good laugh at the beginning and Michelle Williams are not enough. Anyway, Banco Nacional has your info and records. Both of you will end up in jail after a short honeymoon in Madrid. That's Hollywood... Full deception!

The plot does not stand up to any kind of scrutiny, close or otherwise and the actors are good but don't exactly bring their A-game. I think the worst part is how it wants to be sexy and titillating but just comes off as prudish and sex-negative. All that said, it's not quite terrible and McGregor with nerd glasses is an okay reason to watch a movie.

Would have been better by simply having a different title Every twist probably still would've been predictable, but at least the twists wouldn't have been known for sure

You can see all the twists and turns coming from a mile away. A lot of the scene's are just too long and boring. There's no rhythm to the film and the last plot-twist is just plain stupid.

A weird case of a (half-baked) Hitchcock plot that deserves better execution, than this wooden direction and very tired performances from both McGregor and Jackman.

Intriguing premise, but I'm pretty sure Wolverine could kick Obi Wan's ass. McGregor's accent is atrocious as well. The logline might be better than the whole movie.
