Lupino is a freakin icon

Ano do Centenário de Ida Lupino: Filme #14 (atriz). Eu fiquei durante anos traumatizada com o Negulesco por causa daquele horrendo Three Coins in the Fountain, mas Deep Valley zerou toda minha insatisfação com ele, tem algumas cenas que inclusive me lembram Renoir (o cineasta, não o pintor), além de ser mais um belo trabalho de Lupino como atriz. Not sure how likable the story of Deep Valley (1947) was, but it sure has a lot atmosphere going on. That's the thing Jean Negulesco was so good at, and few better to set it around than Ida Lupino. Sadly I didn't feel the same thing about the men she was involved with. Didn't add any danger to the story. Both Dane Clark & Wayne Morris were good at the lighter stuff, but for a darker story like Deep Valley they sort of ruined what was otherwise well composed production.
