Don't have high expectations and you should have fun with this steamy thriller.

Not funny or dark enough -- most of it is a fine collection of Affleck's auteur trademark (staring at existence) --, but hey, a cute dog, a brilliant kid, Ana de Armas shining in every shot and Tracy Letts just delivering the wacky goods in the end ('this is a book!', 'goddam fucking autocorrect!'). Actually, the whole thing should've been just it, a weird post-50 Shades, adult-pop-driven thriller about rich white people trying to stop the inevitable criminalization of monogamy.

SPOILER: If the location scouts had actually found some deep water then this travesty of a film might of been worth 2hrs. Murdering someone in a swimming pool, then weighing down someone else in a metre of stream - and returning with your missus to have a horizontal picnic a few days later only to see it floating on the surface? PLEASE!!. Now I ride a bike, and I am sure that whole sequence was geographically impossible, but luckily it could be well hidden in the rest of this unbelievable mess

Aldatma filmi. Unfaithful filminin, koca versiyonu. Evli mutlu çocuklu gibi görünen çiftimiz, sadakatsiz eşi yüzünden kıskançlık krizlerine giren kocanın intikamını izliyoruz. Çok yavaş tempoda ilerleyen film, cesaretli oyunculukların arkasına sığınmış. Yarım yarım izledim. Gerilmekten çok sıkıldım. En kötü uyarlama. Filmin sonunda, nothing. Boynuzları takıp gezdirmek mi lazım?

Ana de Armas is a hot as hell wife seemingly addicted to having affairs. The husband is sullen and determined to keep her. Good music and production. Bad writing creates several plot holes, and the story contains one entirely too convenient death. Ben Affleck's character is obsessively raging inside throughout the movie. They played cat and mouse with the premise for about half the movie, but eventually settle into the murder for love theme. Ana is quite seductive in this.

For an erotic thriller, it's sorely lacking in both sex and excitement. (But this might've killed in 1990.) Tracy Letts continues to be a treasure as a character actor.

Deep Water has a very weak script, but I think that's what made the movie fun. It becomes extremely gripping when it comes to mind games, jealousy crises, obsessions, and murders surrounded by psychological/erotic thriller. Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas were pretty good.

Lyne's throwback thriller is borderline ludicrous but highly entertaining.

Ben as a passionless husband/killer and Ana as a free spirited woman who keeps having affairs are both casted really well. They aren't the problem. There's just nothing thrilling about the thriller, and nothing psychologically interesting. It could be deeper if it explored the relationship between these two. I don't HATE it because I wondered through most of it why he acted that way, like there'd be some cool reveal, and I guess the ending was fine. But I can't recommend it. Disappointing.

Because we disapprove of the position Affleck finds himself in, we might find it all infuriating. But like every relationship that has its constant and powerful pulls of attraction and disgust, the story does grab you. Affleck is perfectly cast as a stodgy hunk while his younger wife moves about in more ways than one. And instead of walking away, he wants to solve this. Only from each of his decisions onwards, there is nothing to solve. Instead of the following crimes, I wish we'd see them talk.

Before Deep Water makes no sense as a thriller, it only seems to make no sense as a marriage story, with Melinda having affairs out in the open and Vic failing to bottle up his fury about it. Yet the rising body count could (and should) be understood as a manifestation of a private dynamic, of a couple penned in a stormy relationship that they care too much about to end. It’s just a shame the film is as messy as they are
