Nice trick from Shamir playing the somewhat naive journalist, which undoubtedly gave him way more access than some of the participants would have allowed him were he Michael Moore and it is a great eyeopener on the whole antisemitic debate. With that said it gets a bit dull towards the end but Finkelsteins Heil and Hitler comments saves it on the goal line. As with many other documentaries, who tries to engage us viewers into taking a stand, more confrontation would be very welcome!

Okay, so I'm a sucker for films that dare go all the way politically, and unlike Michael Moore this guy somehow gets a peep into the core of the rotten, propaganda-like organisations he indeed is trying to confront. Shamefully these branches, in and out of Israel, live and breeth to show the world's jews that antisemitism is in more or less everyone else ... than ... the jews. It's mind-evoking because it's made by a jew. An antisemitist jew? OOhh, dilemma spotted!

I feel like Shamir isn't very good at this whole documentary thing... I only enjoyed it as much as I did because of the subject matter. Needed more Finkelstein, with some seriously great burns; "at least Hitler didn't do it for money."

"Shamir's propensity for scatterbrained journalism muddles the film's first half to the point of irritation." - Joseph Jon Lanthier

Israeli Jew sets out to understand what anti-Semitism is (a unique quest from the outset) and despite asking some pointed questions and getting some pointed and often surprising answers, never seems to get on the wrong side of anyone. For too long anyway. Still, although I appreciated his mischievous curiosity (It's going too far to call him irreverent.) he's no great filmmaker and the film ends abruptly and glibly. Worth watching though, and often very funny.
