Feels like a bit of a guilty pleasure that I don't feel particularly guilty about. There are some enjoyable shenanigans between Stallone and Snipes, and the whole thing is generally light and bouncy and entertaining. Bullock is quite charming here as well. Whether they were looking for something light I don't know, but it never really gets very deep at any point, and as such is very easy to watch. For some reason, I have a lot of time for the burger scene. Daft fun.

Demolition Man is a definite guilty pleasure. Considering the 90's didn't treat Stallone particularly well, this isn't all that bad and growing up I loved this film. The chemistry between Stallone and Snipes is good fun and as a kid I loved Snipes' character Simon Phoenix. Sandra Bullock is as likeable as ever but the supporting cast is woeful. The plot and script are hilariously stupid, but the mix or humour and action make this harmless fun. I still don't know how the 3 sea shells work though.

At least this movie doesn't take itself too seriously. The hero and the villian are cartoonish and the comedy sophmoric. Bullock and Bratt have some nice chemistry together. Stallone has made much worse, Snipes has made much better. All in all, a watchable film, but it won't ever make any of AFI's lists.

I think this movie functions as a time-piece for the hysteria of the 90's. The "super-predators", the fear of a nanny-state, the hyper-masculine performativity. The movie is certainly memorable with the citations for swearing and "Murder Death Kill". But the overall structure is a bit weak; story, character interactions, etc. It isn't tiresome to watch, though. You'll get through it, maybe have a few laughs, and ponder a bit about the hysteria of the 90's.

I feel like Demolition Man can't decide whether it's a comedy or an action film. It might have worked better as a satirical comedy, because there is some intriguing social commentary surrounding its utopian view of a repressed future. However, the action itself is pretty clunky (lots of slow motion punches thrown,) and Wesley Snipe's villain who is supposed to be a menacing killer (?) rattles off a Dad joke in nearly every line. Sandra Bullock is the best part of the film, though.

Top badass moment? Stallone proving he actually is a violation of the Verbal Morality Code. I admit it, this guilty pleasure movie gets funnier with each watch, whilst doing a surprisingly good job of foreshadowing future tech. Hasn't everyone jumped in a car and said out aloud, "self-drive on"? Also, in HD you can further enjoy Sly’s cold goo phase underneath the opening credits, Sandra's tight trousers, Wesley's coolness and product placement Hell. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Lots of fun sci-fi jokes. Rob Schneider has an entirely appropriate amount of screen time: 2 or 3 minutes. Should have taken place at least 100 years in the future, but then the pointless scene of the old pilot recognizing Stallone would be gone- maybe the pilot should have fired up a helicopter near the end to rescue Stallone from an exploding building?

The Verhoeven-lite satire of DEMOLITION MAN contains a nifty twist: instead of predicting a bleak, violent future, it's a cheerfully repressed, anodyne utopia that hides any hint of corruption underneath a rictus smile. (It's what might happen if Santa Monica took over the world.) It's a great premise employed in service of a derivative plot and some seriously silly action. Still, it's a fun ride if you can overlook the lack of any true convictions.

Not too surprisingly, the film's futuristic aspects are mostly just awkward and hit their target - presumably laughter - only partially. On the other hand, "Demolition Man" occasionally appears to be a meta, self-sarcastic treat, with references to Jackie Chan and Arnold and the uproariously funny "I'm a seamstress" 'subplot'. Of course, it all comes down to the action, which features enough demolitions to water your eyes. Also on the plus side, Snipes and Leary are visibly having a blast.

Demolition Man knows exactly what it is. At the tail end of the 1980's one-liner action flicks, Stallone's vehicle shows a future that is in desperate need of what it left behind. From knitting to overalls, everything is the right amount of silliness. I have a feeling that this is on many people's 'guilty pleasure list.' It sure is on mine, but with less guilt.

This is a fun movie. Could I tear this movie apart... Well yes, but since it doesn't take itself super serious and its lone goal seems to entertain I tend to give it a pass. Another entertaining factor about rewatching this movie aside from seeing a bunch of veteran actors looking all young and fresh faced is laughing at the two futures shown both 1996 & 2032. Its also a bit scary how in 2019 we for some reason seem to be trying to force the 2032 future even when we are getting the 1996 results.

The Rob Schneider Project - day 3. After the previous two exhausting experiments in probing true madness, this was a welcome relief. The movie itself has many weaknesses, but there is a decent cheese-factor to be found. It helps that Rob only has a few scenes and his douche factor is limited. One scene was truly hilarious, where every mention of the name 'Pizza Hut' was obviously added after filming. Guess the Dominoes sponsoring fell through at the last minute. Schneider-annoyance factor: 2

1993 was a hot year for action flick, with this, Cliffhanger and Last Action Hero all being released in that glorious 12 month period. Demotion Man is fun with a capital fuck. Snipes was never better than blonde bonced Simon Phoenix, such a shame he's got himself banged up for not paying his taxes or he might of found himself as one of The Expendables. Quotable script and some solid action sequences make for a 90 minute blast of testosterone. Nigel Hawthorne as a baddie is an odd choice however

A guilty pleasure from childhood, but that is not a disservice to this Stallone and Wesley Snipes film. It is the inspired little details that makes this as funny as it is, the three sea shells to the boxes that go off in the background when someone swears in the scenes, the oldies station that plays advert jingles and Denis Leary as an underground leader, all of which makes it a dumb action film that has a little more wit to it than most.

Tongue-in-cheek action sci-fi with a decent premise and plenty of humour, on occasion just stopping short of parodying the blockbusters of the time (OTT violence, ludicrous situations, corny one-liners, etc.). Cast well (Leary aside, perhaps) with Sandra Bullock's performance oddly the best work of her career. There are plenty of Brave New World references dotted about but the relevance is pretty loose.

Hard to believe Sandra Bullock has several films on her resume prior to this one, as she looks and sounds like she's trying her hand at this thing called acting for the very first time. Horrible. As for the film itself, it's a dust-up between action heavyweights Stallone and Snipes with a couple imaginative action sequences and enough clever twists and witty pop culture references to keep it afloat. It's still not great, but it's better than it should be.

I should review Demolition Man at a lower score but there is just something nostalgic about this movie that bumps it up higher in my opinion. I'm a sucker for cyberpunk and this fits that mold in some ways. Stallone and Snipes work well off each other - Stallone doesn't have much personality and Snipes has it in droves. Stallone's one-liners work a lot of the time because Snipes spits back. Bullock is adorable in this movie and so many of the character actors really add something.

Like Escape From LA, D.M is a dumb-smart satirical action film that projects present concerns about the authoritarian tendencies of PC culture into the distant future. As it's a Sly vehicle, the social commentary is not particularly incisive, but its dystopic vision of an absurdly repressive society under benevolent technocratic rule is quite distinctive and humorous and full of exciting action scenes and above average performances, especially by Snipes who hams it up as the flamboyant villain.

Hollywood formally copy-pasting successful ideas while frustratingly missing their point. The satirical potential here is gnawed away by grave contradictions in logic. It's completely soft-pedaled & comes from within the system it's supposed to be mocking. Some jokes are funny in the most superficial way but both writing & execution are mostly bankrupt in terms of weight & charm. Bullock is likeable but fails to save the role from terrible writing. Reminded me of how brilliant RoboCop still is.
