Stefan is 12 years old, spastically paralyzed and moved to a new city with his mother. With his illness, he encounters hostility and rejection among the children in the neighborhood. Stefan dreams of an operation to make him well, but when, after thorough examinations, he finds out that the operation is futile, he grabs an electric wheelchair to get out of the hospital.
