Lightweight and formulaic but decent and entertaining movie about some real issues. Nothing brilliant but whatever.

An interesting and entertaining movie with a few disturbing undertones. Sally Hawkins was marvelous as the struggling young actress in London, and Liya Kebede stands out with her portrayal of the African refugee. It was engaging from start to finish, and heartbreaking at times as it deals with the extraordinarily sad legacy of female circumcision. Well worth watching, but contains some difficult subject matter for children. Performances are good, and it is overall satisfying.
