Walsh is the best at these seamless combinations of action, intrigue, and snappy off-the-cuff dialogue. It's the kind of rousing, roguish movie that so many of those 60s WWII "men on a mission" films (Dirty Dozen, Kelly's Heroes) tried to be and never quite managed to succeed in pulling off.

I REALLY liked this one! Great action, perfect ensemble cast and quite an adventure. Flynn was excellent and one of the bigger roles I've seen Reagan in. There was a scene in this one that Raiders of the Lost Ark used! Can't say enough!

The Errol Flynn/Raoul Walsh take on the war. A time for a laugh and a little killing as intermission. No, the action was good, but it was clear this wanted to be a cheerful humiliation of the German's while still trying to remain somewhat dangerous tone over the enemy boarder. And you can bank on that Flynn/Walsh formula being a winner, even if the surroundings were darker than usual. You know you'll be entertained during the war, Hollywood-style.

Good Raoul Walsh actioner stars Errol Flynn, Ronald Reagan, Arthur Kennedy and the inevitable Alan Hale as soldiers escaping from deep inside enemy territory. The last half hour or so is gripping.

a pretty damned fine war movie--with some great action and a story that keeps you entertained the whole way through. flynn is good as always--too bad that he doesn't fight with a sword. reagan doesn't disappoint, and the action is steady and appealing.
