If you're a single father and not actively trying to find a mother for your brood, you are literally an inhuman monster who ruins all joy in the world. Also, violence against women, children, and the elderly is fantastic. THANKS MOVIE FOR KIDS...... YOU PIECE OF CRAP.

I saw this with my son in the theater and two adults came and sat in front of us. Just two adult humans that came to see Despicable Me 2 in the theater. I try not to judge people too harshly on first impression but we're talking about two adults that paid money to sit and watch Despicable Me 2 in the theater. For the record, they liked it or appeared to. We did too but that's an eight year old and a parent, not two random adults in a theater at a kid's movie.

I could rate this higher - I somewhat liked it. The reasons to lower my rating are inumerous though: Endless fart jokes, repetitive humor (and I never understood why people find the minions funny) and a poorer "villain" plot are some. I just don't care about these films, and when everyone else is for some reason hyped about them the whole thing makes me a bit sour.

Basically more of what made the first Despicable Me a fun film, but with more focus on the minions and with some romance added to the mix. It has nice animation, charming bits with the family moments, and is occasionally quite funny. The base humour with the minions goes overboard though.

These annoyances aren't exactly, well, dispicable, but they do peck away, just like Gru's fowl opponant, at this otherwise delightful film's family-affirming moments. (pluggedin.com)

The first Despicable Me was one of the funniest animated films I've seen, and I hold it in very high regard. The sequel is nearly as good - and frankly, considering the inevitable temptations to turn the Minion quotient way up to 11, that's a heck of a win. Frequently sweet and consistently funny - Carell's Gru remains sublime, as is the absurdly cute Agnes - if you hold any affection for the first, the second will deliver too.

I'm of two minds with this movie. On the one hand, this is probably a bit funnier than the first one based purely on a LPM (laughs per minute) metric. On the other hand, the thing that made Despicable Me stand out from the crowd was the villain-as-protagonist angle. By making Gru into a purely good family man, they've stripped the franchise of its best attribute and distilled it down to simple, silly fun. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that (and I'm sure the kids won't care).

Alternate title: "Minion Cash In." Really quite boring, and flawed in many ways. It simply opts to forgo any character development, and thus seems overlong. Most of the montage scenes and minion scenes could be cut down or replaced with more narratively motivated parts. The use of music and excessive slapstick is obnoxious.

Rewatch. Loveable minions and girls are back. Much nicer Gru. Fav scenes: Gru going on a date with an obvious mismatch; girls escaping from the purple monster minion was shot like a horror film.

My kids--and every other kid in the theater, really--roared with hysterical laughter at this, and then bopped along in their seats to the YMCA song at the end. It bored me, though. I wasn't into the barely-there, extremely simplistic story and the lack of any kind of sophisticated humor, although the minions were fitfully kind of amusing. Advice to parents: bring a book, or take a nap, or something.

Fun enough and some aspects of the plot are very well done, but the rest is a mix of rushed plot points and pointless minion derails. In short it's a good enough movie held back by sticking to a formula.

It's lacking the charm the first film occasionally had. The story is even more cliched and the jokes immature. I wasn't expecting much and that's what I got, a very mediocre film. I'd recommend to skip this one.

The minions are the focal point here, and as such the movie is tonally challenged. Gru still manages to warrant laughs every now and then, but its ALL the minions. And they're all gags. And it gets stale after a while. Kids will probably eat it up though.

one thing to learn from watching this sequel is that it lacks room for improvement. The jokes are pretty much the same and so does our like-able villain turn superhero Gru.Like in the first movie,it seems that his character hadn't learn his lesson and it is still full of confusion. maybe that is the thing that make "Despicable Me" fun and hillarious. At the same time its also annoying to look at the character which never fully transform into something better. At least "The Minion" still has it.

This movie took a while to get good but when it finally hit its stride it was great. There was too much focus on the minions in this and despite their cuteness they can get annoying because they just speak gibberish. I liked the romance between Gru and Lucy although it happens really fast. The final scene was really cute and made me tear up a bit. I was hoping this was going to be better but it suffers from being a sequel that didn't go above and beyond the original film. It is still fun though.

Remembered that the first one was a bit funnier. Beside the fact that in the sequel are more minion scenes, which makes it better, but they are almost the only ones who deliver some laughs and that was different in the previous one. Kristen wiig is good tho

Despicable Me 2 is an uninteresting sequel that feels as if it exists simply to make money. It isn't progressing its character or telling a story that's involving; instead, it shoves the minions in our faces and delivers a boring plot filled with one-note characters. It's visually sharp, but its animation is in service of things that don't deserve it. A longer timeout needed to be taken between movies in order to figure out a story with these characters that was worth telling. This isn't it.

A pretty not great follow up to a movie that wasn't great but better than I thought it would be. Just felt half assed in all ways and it's kind of senseless focus on a household needing two parents without really backing that up with reason was kind of annoying. The minions, while still not as annoying as you'd suspect from the ads, are also starting to wear out their welcome. It was at least well animated.

Cute, with great animation. My problem with is is the same as the first one - it's overly sentimental. I would much prefer if it was just a movie about Gru, supervillains and the minions, but the romantic interest and the kids ruin it completely for me. The YMCA bit was incredible, though.

More or less the same as the first one. The plot is nothing special and the inevitable love interest story was kind of lame. There were some funny moments from the minion characters, but sometimes they just got in the way of the story and were an annoying distraction. There were a few emotional parts concerning the kids, but not enough to make it a strength of the film. I can't fault the animation. A fine time-waster, but not much more.

Very cute and watchable, speaking as an adult. The minions are a major focus, and the movie is best during the scenes involving them, though Gru and the girls do have a certain amount of charm as well. Not every kids movie can be Pixar quality (not even Pixar is Pixar quality every time), and this is a lot better than dreck like Shrek the 5 billionth.
