Detective Bureau 2-3: Go to Hell Bastards
Jo Shishido stars as Det. Tajima, a smug investigator who nabs a pair of criminal gangs with flamboyant aplomb while the police remain baffled. Suzuki treats the rather hoary plotline as an excuse for dark-humored camp, and young audiences were delighted with his irreverent approach, which made him one of the few distinctive names in the '60s assembly-line of Nikkatsu Studios. Pulpy fun with an excellent score and atmosphere. The story unravels at points, and the climax in the basement is not really satisfying. There are enough quirky moments (like a really inspired song and dance number) that make it a worthwhile watch.

Works on distinct levels of noir yakuza-geki, manic comedy and madcap farce, all at once, and it has one of the best film titles ever. One of the characters even has a dance intro!! A riotous blast of cynicism and fun from the King of the Ridiculous.

It's almost indescribable (like most Suzuki films), but this takes elements of James Bond and the Keystone Kops for a wild turf war between yakuza clans. It's campy fun even if the story is pretty basic, possibly helped by the disco-jazz soundtrack; unfortunately, there's nothing specific that makes it any more memorable than others in the genre. Most surprising moment: the gangster sing-along cabaret.

Em honra de Tamio Kawaji (1938 - 2018) filme #1. Foi definitivamente com Seijun Suzuki que o cinema japonês começou a ficar mucho loco. DVDRip no MakingOff.

It's slightly less strange than other Seijun Suzuki films, but the weird Japanese-version-of-Tom-Cruise-ness of Jo Shishido's particular brand of overacting and the extremely brisk pace of this film makes it extremely entertaining. Not enough weird imagery for me, though.
