Devotion

When they're in the air, it's good. Sadly, those scenes are diluted in a slog of cliches and exposition. Being a biography about aviator Jesse L Brown, racial discrimination is of course the main story here, but this movie is so busy portraying it in a heavy handed way (and often telling rather than showing) it forgets to be enjoyable. It's not poignant enough to be a compelling drama and action scenes are too sparse to measure up to the far more entertaining Top Gun (an unavoidable comparison).

Solid film, excellent cast. Flying scenes are great. Worth a look.

An insightful film with good effects and good performance, this is quite an engrossing and sometimes relatively gripping watch. It makes you think about the impact of racism at the time and makes you realise what unsung heroes the air force pilots were for helping out in the 1950s Korean war at the time. A decent film worth a watch, yes I'd recommend this.

It's not about pair of pilots. It is story about how bad it was to be black in USNavy back in fifties. Unfortunately this plot ruins the film.

Probably could have been something great since it was a true story of Jesse Brown, but unfortunately the character development was extremely lacking. The script didn’t give you much to attach to in an emotional way.

While “Devotion” may not be a standout film in its genre, it still provides potent dialogue between the past and present and an engaging character study. The strong performances of the lead actors and the intriguing perspective on following rules as a privilege make it worth a watch, but it ultimately falls short in terms of the action and originality.

Old-fashioned real-life hero story. Enjoyable the whole way through.
