Diary of a Chambermaid

One of the big weaknesses of modern film making seems to be the lack of understanding of their characters, or the willingness to tell much about them in hope of creating a certain mystique. It's such a tired lack-of-effort cliché by now, and it ruined Journal d'une femme de chambre [Diary of a Chambermaid] (2015). For this was a film I actually liked the frame of, but as many have expressed, the end result becomes pointless. Simply because they never give any reason to care for the chambermaid.

I almost rated lower than that, I didn't only because the setting was intriguing
