Dick Tracy

Has nothing to do with the character save the name and without the colorful villains this is generic. It's also a rambling collection of semi-linked stories but they're so eclectic, they have to make an entire clip-show episode to remind you what actually is relevant from the first episode.

God damn this is silly. Serials had a really high reputation for a while before it was possible to readily see them

The original Dick Tracy! Republic Pictures was the first one out to put the comic book detective on screen with Ralph Byrd portraying the G-man. And he does a good job too. One dimensional, but with enough energy to pull it off in a B-production like this. And as a serial, this is good. Very good. Rarely has a 15-episode serial been this coherent and polished before. Has enough cheesy entertain to offer with it's action filled, campy, over-the-top stories of good vs evil.
