In this early work Marker has not yet developed his supersubjective hermeneutic style of creating images and dreamlike pseudophilosophical narratives, but rather he juxtaposes images from Peking in a decent and semi-interesting manner. With the classical music and the analogies he builds between revolution in China and Bastille, he seems not able of depicting or observing a non-western time and space without western signifiers.
