A three-part depiction of various forms of communication. 'Exhaustive Discussion' depicts three heads (made up of fruit, kitchen utensils and writing implements respectively) endlessly devouring and regurgitating each other. 'Passionate Discourse' shows two clay figures romantically intertwined, and the problems with dealing with the end product of their passion, while 'Factual Conversation' shows two animated heads playing a bizarre variant of the old scissors-paper-stone game. Prime Svankmajer here. Amazing both technically and narratively.

The animation here is stunning, especially in the first part. It must have been a nightmare to keep it all organized, but still be able to maintain the image they were going for. It made me really interested to look up more of this director's work.

Quite possibly the greatest stop-motion short of all time. The third segment, featuring two grumpy old men whose conversation starts out civil but goes awry, is a masterpiece of sound design and comic timing.

The first of the three parts didn't do that much for me, but the second and third parts are absolutely genius.

Extremely well-animated. Much of it is violent and unsettling. I'm not entirely sure what I just watched, but it was certainly a strange and uncomfortable eleven minutes.

Technically impressive and awe-inspiring. But it's so bleak. Are all attempts at communication doomed to fail or generate such anger or such uniformity? Is it impossible to find solace in the abilities of humans to communicate? Or even to play the communication game without trying to achieve anything and that doesn't leave the players worn out and frustrated?

Loads of fun, if your definition of fun is degradation and bulimia.

Three animated levels of discussion without a word. First two were better than the last. Maybe the very first was in the end a bit too underlining.

Great animation, with a great message. I think I get it all, and it's certainly nice seeing the communication and breakdown of communication in all of them. I liked all 3 segments, the 1st was a little creepy to me, the second hurt my feelings, and the 3rd was a nice way to wrap it all up.

the first part seemed more of a showcase for svankmajer's terrible sound effects than anything else, but after that it's not bad, completely pointless, but eye candy none-the-less.

Inventive and impressive animated short about the pharmacological (in Bernard Stiegler's sense, that is, in the Greek sense) character of communication.

It looks amazing, but I'm just not a fan of surrealism. Luckily, it's only 11 minutes long so even haters like me can watch it all the way through.

Brilliant if depressing piece. Easier to view it's message of one of how society grinds one down through a lifetime than the struggles of communication within a conversation. It was incredible to watch and re watch. One of the best pieces of animation i've ever seen.
