Much has been said about Ken Russell's "The Devils". The short documentary doesn't cover a lot of new ground (for that, watch "Hell on Earth"), but focuses on the political backdrop of the historical events, and the score by bad-boy composer Peter Maxwell Davies, well-suited to Ken Russell's bad-boy filmmaker reputation at the time.
