Dirty Grandpa

You can't fault "Dirty Grandpa" for containing dirty jokes, and all around bad taste, it advertises it right in the title and if you can't figure that out before you see it, then go ahead and pick up "Debbie Does Dallas" instead, there's no nudity, I swear. The fact is, though, that the jokes here just aren't quite good enough and as raunchy as it is, that does not indicate quality.

well, it took quite a while and some pretty questionable movies, but the time is finally at hand: mr. de niro, may i introduce you to mr. bottom, rock bottom.

Ain't nothin' wrong with some raunchiness, but there has to be some finesse to it. There's no finesse to the onslaught of offensive lines made in Dirty Grandpa. I imagine the actors standing in front of the camera, repeating combinations of words like "cock" and "cum" and pussy" until an executive says, "Hey, that's marketable." Borrows heavily from the worst parts of bro comedies like Wedding Crashers and The Hangover. Danny Glover was decent, but he only shows up for a sec or two.

No great success, but not an overwhelming failure, either, Dirty Grandpa is pretty much what you'd expect from a movie with that title. It's a vulgar, crude, offensive, and filled with jokes that aim to make you both laugh and cringe. It works to an extent. The plot is almost inconsequential, it gets repetitive and feels like it could have been edited together in many different orders, and the character growth and lessons learned are about as basic as they come. But is it funny? I guess so.

Funny, but childish and grobian.

If you think fart jokes, dick jokes and gay jokes are the pinnacle of comedy then you'll love this. Everyone else will just take pity on De Niro.

Bizarre. Rafi was funny.

Completely unlikable characters, an inane illogical plot, and mostly lame comedy. This pretty much exists only to have Robert DeNiro say the filthiest, unacceptable things imaginable. However, there are far worse reasons to make a movie, and so I award this 30 points.

It's bad, but its not like it's bad bad

Dirty Grandpa is the kind of movie you know isn't going to be good going in, but you hope there might be some fun along the way. Efron is a decent straight-man, and DeNiro, Plaza and Mantzoukas deliver exactly the kind of comedy you'd expect from each of them. Unfortunately, the plot and the writing are so uninspired that it detracts from the occasional humour. A very mediocre movie; not horrendous but not good either.

de Niro trained Bin Laden's mujahedin in Iraq in the 80s, so now he can get away with anything, even gay&racist jokes. Jason Mantzoukas is great in anything tho.

De Niro's finest moment.

A crazy role for Robert De Niro. His character was atrocious. Lots of humor was racist, sexist or vulgar. I got several inappropriate laughs. Aubrey Plaza plays her typical sexy nonconformist bad girl. Mantzoukas & the cops were absurd. Adam Pally was hilarious. Efron was OK. Very little plot, other than an old dude who wants to get laid & save his grandson from a bad marriage. It coasts a bit on the novelty of De Niro being crude, but also a tough guy. Not good, but good for a few laughs.

I only wanted to see this because everyone spoke about how bad it was. It's just not funny, which is such a shame, although I almost laughed once at someone trying to communicate something heartfelt with an electronic voicebox (didn't laugh but almost did)

Had Dirty Grandpa (2016) not been so desperate to kiss drugged up juvenile ass so hard it might have been funny. Not just gloriously awkward. Good for Robert De Niro getting to enjoy senior life living like a college student. And who wouldn't want to touch Zac Efron little bee.

This new De Niro makes me sad

This film is pretty awful. Tries to pivot from a filth filled comedy to a meaningful drama and you just don't buy it. Even their attempts to try and be emotional/touching doesn't feel real because of their propensity to just go "dirty" as the title suggests. There are moments but the majority is cringe-worthy rubbish, you will almost feel embarrassed watching. Happened Bobby D?

It's like a limbo contest; how low can you go? Or were they trying to torture the actors? Dirty movies are usually funnier when they put more efforts into the humour or into telling some sort of plot.

Abysmal shitty comedy without laughs or a single relatable or likable character.

Bad, but also not very fun. Comparing this to Pacino's turn in Jack and Jill, really makes that movie look like a work of comic genius

Robert Deniro makes a dirty low brow comedy. He is surpisingly good in the role of a perpetually horny foul mouthed geezer who ambushes his grandson (Efron) into taking a road trip with him so he can get laid. Deniro is clearly having fun dropping f-bombs and trying to be as offensive as possible, and his sexually explicit flirting with Aubrey Plaza (playing against type) is genuinely amusing. Unfortunately the script is lousy and predictable and tries too hard to shock. A missed opportunity.

A true disaster of a movie. The fact that an actor like De Nire humiliates himself by playing this role is suite baffling.

Predictably cheesy and offensive. People say this is De Niro's worst ever role, but I actually quite liked the partnerships between him and Efron, and him and Plaza. The comedy pressed some buttons for me, and I laughed a little, I'm ashamed to admit. As a film it's below average, but among the mainstream raucous comedy genre, better than average.

I'd have been fine with about 65% less "plot" and 90 minutes of Efron & De Niro just farting around in Daytona Beach looking at hot chicks and tormenting frat boys. But by God if De Niro isn't selling this juvenile shit like he's acting in a long lost sequel to ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA. And anytime Robert De Niro stops a movie cold to deliver a matter-of-fact lecture about Andre the Giant fingering five girls at once at the Playboy Mansion, you damn well better be paying attention.

Unfunny movie but easy to watch to kill some time. It is weird to see De Niro in this piece of shit.

No, just no. De Niro and Efron work well together, but that's about all the good in this film. I can count the funny moments on one hand. It's full of inappropriate and offensive jokes and the story doesn't have anything of value.

It's a lot better than the reviews I've read. It's great to see DeNiro spouting out lines that sound like they're written for Seth Rogen. It also helps we're treated to the innate funniness of mister high energy himself: Jason Mantzoukas.

Great cast, fine acting, interesting characters but film/movie is just abusive and rough.. Wrong messages, mixed up morals. Crazy like character arcs and its just like tellin in some realm which all different than our world ?! Just like fantasy movie paradoy. Singing credits or Efron and Hough ?! Seriously ? :D I loved cast and acting but story telling or even the story looks like shit mixed.

The endless change of tone and sloppy editing wrecked this one.
