A strange sort of absurdist realism. Deeply serious subject matter handled with a lot of dark cynical humour that lets situations play themselves out in weird ways with minimal dialogue or commentary. The uniqueness makes it a bit tough to get into, but I quite enjoyed it.

A divine dark comedy with bleak, surrealistic environment, coupled with that 'seen-it-all' grin on Suleiman's face give this absurdist, acerbic tragic comedy a masterpiece status.

The film is interesting in how it uses still shots and sound to convey things that aren't shown on screen, and it's all so incredibly well shot and edited that it's never boring to look at. The intricacies of its narrative are obtuse, but its core cynical sarcasm is endearing and drives a lot of the movie's personailty. However, I feel the movie misses out a lot by not making clear its core thematic goals and whatever that may have been feels like it falls on deaf ears by the end of its runtime.

This film will leave anyone in love with absurd completely enchanted. A great satiric commentary of current situation in the area.

A film that starts in Nazareth with a Santa Claus being chased by a bunch of kids and only gets more awesomely bizarre from there? 'Divine Intervention' is about boundaries and borders, every scene has deep political meaning and way offbeat humor and it somehow manages to also feature a romance between a Palestinian man and an Israeli woman that's mostly consumed by holding hands at border checkpoints. Cannot stress enough how much I love this.

Unfortunately for Elia Suleiman, Roy Andersson has executed this style with such elegance that Divine Intervention is left feeling somewhere between a newspaper cartoon and one of those musical sketches at the end of a Smack the Pony episode.

Divina intervenção estreava há 20 anos no French Film Festival da República Checa. Esse filme tem todos os elementos para amá-lo, mas por alguma razão não consegui. Anyway, pau no cu de Israel. DVDRip no MakingOff.

i'm probably missing like 80% of the subtext and all of the wordplays in arabic but the poetic comedic timing and metaphors of tension/release through it were masterful.

"Divine Intervention is very clear that the conflict in the Middle East is all one big farce." - Ed Gonzalez

Before watching this move, i was in a doubt like some people on Palestine - Israel border, is this trip worth it or not. Like in movie, this trip is totally worth watching. Although there isn't many dialogs in the movie, it gives a good lesson.
