Good acting, aesthetic, and posh Gen-Z high school world-building keep this party going amidst some inconsistent writing (see the unnecessary narration, the one-off sympathizing of Max, the confusing and unfounded twist, the drastic reconciliation to happy ending that reeks of privilege, the cheesy and easy re-pairing off in the credits). There are some great emotional moments (see Drea and Nora in bed) but they don't always feel connected or justified. Or maybe I just don't get teens anymore.

Wants to do for Hitchcock what Julia Stiles did for Shakespeare, and pulls it off in pastel fits and overly algorithm'd starts. Fun and likable with actors who generally know what movie they're in (SMG!) but overly long without enough meat there to justify it.

Yep, that’s a Netflix movie alright! Some very good lead performances and a surprisingly good third act make this fun twist on a high school movie entertaining for the runtime but ultimately it’s really unmemorable and will be forgotten as soon as it slips off their charts except by like a few 14 year olds who will talk fondly about it on tumblr in 2029

This is one of those movies that won't let me hate it. It's too much fun. The plot twists are quite good. Hawke and Mendes play off each other well. It's not the funniest comedy by any means, but I was entertained regardless. It's because this is a movie that just wants to be a stylish party. Ex-popular songs abound. Why? I don't care, it's a party. Some of them are used really well, but they all further this tone.

This movie has an interesting script with perhaps one twist too many. There are numerous references to other films of the same genre in this movie. Overall I would recommend this movie.

Mendes character definitely does some actual bad stuff to people but all is forgiven in the name of whatever version of girlbossing this is. Great performances by her and Hawke. Nothing will ever top the era of teen movie they’re trying to emulate and flip on its head so I just can’t help but be dragged into its world. Needs way better music

I didn't like Do Revenge, though frankly I'm not the target demographic. Robinson's direction is good throughout & there's the odd moment that garnered a laugh, but the film is mean-spirited to the core. While it's fine having chaotic-evil characters, the film wrongly portrays the leads as justified, rolling the credits with happy endings & fulfilled romances. Gellar & Turner were underused. Hawke & Mendes were decent but type-cast. Occasionally okay, the film is predictable Netflix schlock.

Subversive, really sullies the motives of the two leads.

It knows what it is, and plays in it really well. A modern Hitchcock as everyone says? No, not every film can be Strangers on a Train, but still fun, and hot.

It’s fun and actually looks pretty good in spots. As you can tell from the poster it uses pastels well. Basically an amalgamation of all the high school movies I grew up with so hard to not get sucked in. Funny that it shows that all the people in this movie are bordering on being psychopaths, but instead of nailing everyone it picks a sole target to ultimately punish in the name of girlbossing the ending.

I was fairly impressed by the plot twist.

Well acted and shot, some real nifty soundtrack choices, but the script is really rather crap and seems deeply confused about it wants to say or be. Also, the twists are extremely bluntly telegraphed, so can be merrily missed.

The film offers a fresh and subversive take on the teen comedy genre, with excellent writing and direction from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, a uniformly excellent ensemble cast, and a well-executed plot. It's definitely worth checking out for anyone interested in the genre.

It does the teen Hitchcock thing pretty well and the cast was very good. My only real gripe is that there is just not much comedy here. The laughs they go for mostly land, but they just don't have many of them.
