If you want me to tell one French action movie than that's whats comes first to my mind. And in the good sense. As opposite to american action - violence is creepy.

It's what you'd get if Takashi Miike was French.

Nothing special story-wise, but it's hard not to get drawn into this stylish and at times kinda dark actioner. I appreciated how the violence was not (often) presented as something cool and glamorous. Did leave me with a bit of that 'but what was the point of everything?' feeling, but then again, that's what I think every night before falling asleep anyway.

Everything about this movie screams "90's" ! It actually can be compared to a seinen in terms of atmosphere, style and graphic violence.

Distills all of the excesses of “hip”, post-Tarantino actioners of the 90s for better and worse – Cassel makes for a compellingly savage anti-hero, and there are some nice, fluid action filled set pieces, but this ultimately feels like a path well trodden by this point – while well performed, the characters themselves don’t hold enough interest to make the film compelling, and at a certain point the wallowing in gruesome violence begins to leave a corrosive (and vaguely unpleasant) after-taste.
