Disappointingly misguided, despite its topical subject matter. The worst thing at play here is the film's seeming lack of faith in its audience. The political themes, for one, are laid on so thick that they might as well have been signposted in the opening credits. Performance-wise, Van den Begin adds a crucial spark to a woefully underwritten role, a character whose entire arc seems to depend on a delayed plot disclosure that packs little to no punch at all. And that ending is beyond awful.
