Difficult to watch but undeniably powerful stuff.

I can't judge it, perhaps it is too subtle for me to judge. Neither did I stopped watching it nor was I fascinated by it. Sometimes the story grips you on like on the striptease scene or the scene with the old lady and the young guy punishing the other guy. But at times, the dialogue seems a bit dragged. I can't co-relate the weather and the movie because I have no clues about that and could be one of the reasons I didn't appreciate the full meaning of it.

This is a hard one to review, it's one of the movies with separate story lines and characters that weave in and out sporadically. The overarching theme is very subtle if one can even make one. Basically the movie seems to be more composed around the scalding temperature/setting and its affect on each pair of relationships, which all seem to be rising to a boiling point in some fashion. There are not many directors which really kick ass. Ulrich Seidel from Austria is one of them. He will disturb you with his movies will make you laugh and cry at the same time. This is the austrian answer to Spike Lees Do The Right Thing.The hottest day in the bronx the hottest days in austria.This movie is special because everything in it acting, camera, sound, design, photography.A cinematic masterpiece.

suburban life is listlessly humping a sauna wall for eternity. i was honestly expecting a much more aesthetised vision, where in reality this is filled with typically unpleasant people, mostly men, doing typically unpleasant things, mostly to women. ulrich seidl is obviously a very cynical man, but only in the most familiar ways. more old people stripping to chopin's prelude in e minor would have been preferable.
