Oddly paced, with unoriginal "bad guys" doing cliché bad deeds. The music was unfitting for half the movie, and the fights were badly choreographed. Some of the effects too made it look amateur and rushed. The way they showed the use of technology by ISIS felt like it was written by some disconnected old guy trying to figure out what cool kids like these days. The concept could have been interesting, but the execution did not impress me.

Viewed January 14, 2020. De Palma's usual voyeurism theme applied to ISIS terrorism videos - we are living in a dystopia, and we have the footage to prove it.

botched as the production/writing are, the cable TV trappings only make the christchurch-anticipating split-screen more jarringly real when it arrives (the most modern, distressing POV shot since NIGHTCRAWLER?), while this fascination with the way violence and terror are consumed through and refracted by everyday medias might be obfuscated by a greater budget. the provocative and virtuosic images should be more than enough for BDP die-hards in any case; the camera as doctrine, weapon, and god.

The plot in this is extremely unoriginal and dumb, unfortunately there is also little else to enjoy in this very uninspired thriller. It's only in the final set piece with a potential terrorist bombing in a bullfighting arena that De Palma shows his skills of building tension. DP really hammers home with the constant showing of videos of a beheading the fact that the real world depiction of violence in home-videos of execution by terrorist are worst than anything he ever done in his movies.

De Palma's career is defined by his highs and lows. His heights, like Carrie, Blow Out and Scarface, are masterpieces. He has the ability to conjure an atmosphere like very few Hollywood directors. No matter how bad his movie was, you could always rely on that. Until Domino. The most vapid - disposable - film in his filmography. There isn't even any weird lewdness atypical with De Palma. Although he is no stranger to low points, he's never reached this low.

Convoluted cheap eurothriller -- CIA prick using asset's need of revenge (dad killed by ISIS) to catch ISIS leader as a Danish cop is looking for him -- and sometimes badly written, with some weird, clunky production values. But man, this is a De Palma movie. Cinema as a media of horror -- ISIS has a film crew -- as it is another De Palma exploration of obsession through human eyes, lenses and screens. So many beautiful set pieces here -- finale at the tourada, the POV attack at a film festival.

Yes, let's follow this random truck in Spain because it has the same logo as something I saw in another country. What do you know. It leads to a random other truck with the terrorists inside. Wtf

Fascinating how a strong directorial insistence and swelling Hitchcockian strings can elevate humdrum plot points to interest level. Plus there's an early sequence kicking off the whole short-changed plot that has distinct De Palma flavors of yesteryear – a dreamlike quality of missed chances and regret. But the rest is ugly, racist, out-of-date.
