Don't Go in the Woods

The songs are nice but there isnt much to it beyond that.

Wastes no time tossing the gore at you. The musical sub-genre of horror is a strange one, with the added dilemma of non-sympathetic, idiotic characters. Had to chuckle at the sign with the title of the movie in the middle of the woods. At least the Nick character is very interesting. Sadly, all atmosphere is blown inside 10 minutes when someone on the film crew's arm is in a shot and the editors just left it in. Inexcusable. Aside from Nick, the music and the ending, it's a poor effort.

This is an odd fucking film. It's about a band that goes into the woods to write some songs, and they begin to get killed off. It's a b-horror musical, and it accomplishes that well. The main character, Nick Storm, has some interesting aspects to him, especially toward the end. There's some good stuff in this film about obsession, insanity, and personal demons. I wish it explored some of its themes more thoroughly or had a more interesting structure. As it is, it's just far too bland.
