Featuring solid work all around from its very talented cast and managing to be an engaging enough thriller, it suffers quite a bit from wanting to be and do way too much. There are so many subplots and details that are introduced throughout, often one right after another, most of which are poorly followed up on, and some of which lead absolutely nowhere in the end. While it's easy to appreciate the complex vibe that it's going for, the execution falls a bit flat. All in all, it's alright.

Despite a terrific cast (and my own proclivity for anything Douglas), this scrapes by as merely watchable, due to a screenplay that plays as rushed and unfinished – the multiple plot threads could have been utilised to increase the tension if they intersected more organically; as it is, each thread plays to itself, with the momentum screeching to a halt every time the focus shifts. It is always fun to see Douglas being slowly driven up the wall, and the rest of the cast don’t disappoint.

Run of the mill thriller, don't know if it was, but should have been straight to video.

I can't say much about this movie, besides 'ya it was alright'. Not a great film, but worth watching if you need something to rent.

In retrospect Murphy playing a crazy girl well should be a no brainer. Poor thriller with a worse ending.

Should have been a lot better for a well known and enjoyable cast, but it just seems like something's missing; too long, too predictable maybe.

Psychological crime/thriller, may have been a fun airport novel but this film was unbearably corny.

True story : the young, now dead, actress that played Jesse (Skye something or other) went to the same school as my cousin down in Houston. This is literally the only thing I remember about this film.

Well Michael Douglas is pretty good but the movie itself is pretty forgettable to say the least. Nothing all that entertaining at all.

umm, this started out ok with a good setup and I thought we are in for a treat here. After 10 years in prison Sean Bean comes up with his cunning plan. He is going to kidnap the daughter of an eminent psychologist, who is friends of a doctor looking after the young girl whose dad stole his diamond, in order to get him to reveal the "number" locked in her head .. how he knew she had this "number" no one knows. If he had read where she was found he could have saved himself a lot of trouble. Stupid

A poor effort for all involved. This was one of the first movies to really push Brittany Murphy from supporting player to breakout star -- not surprisingly, that hasn't exactly worked out. She's super fucking annoying here, and years later "I'll nnneeever te-ellllll" still grates on my nerves. It's just a shit film. How could anyone involved with this be at all satisfied with the film's ending? I mean, really? That's it?? What an anticlimax.

Piss-poor direction and acting (mainly from Esposito) is only made bearable (and passable) by Sean Bean doing what Sean Bean does best. Oh, and Famke Janssen is still super hot!

A surprisingly thrilling drama. Brittany Murphy plays a crazy girl extremely well, and Michael Douglas proves once again that he can play a psychologist with a little edge. Predictable yet fun, this one is worth a look.
