I feel like most of the reviews here either condemn the movie while giving it a high ranking or praise it from a low tier. I'd like to say that I've invested a bunch of my time in anthologies and lately I've been watching nothing but philosophical meditations on science and religion. Therefore I can confidently say that this movie is at least two-thirds up its own ass.

All 3 segments, which are quite different in tone and plot, share a wonderful atmosphere, which sci-fi movies should. The first segment is a good look at the zombie genre. The second segment (the highlight of the film), is a look at robots and philosophy, an interesting dissection of humans and creation. The third is a pretty silly look at the apocalypse and pool, but after the seriousness in the previous, it was a nice break. All in all the two directors succeed wonderfully in all 3 parts.

Doomsday Book is filled with great visuals and concepts, but they end up shallow and unfortunately not used to their full capacity. Worth it for the second story, however.

An odd movie for sure, a lot of plot holes and not much of an overarching theme, but occasionally interesting

The format is a bit strange, as it is three shorts. The middle one is, well, pretty amazing. Highly recommended. The other two aren't bad, but they bring down the average.

Doomsday Book's main issue for me was the fact that none of the shorts have satisfying conclusions. There's probably a lot of subtle cultural themes that get lost in translation (I'm not sure if the zombie outbreak is a nod to freeing yourself from a restraining society) but even in a broader sense, there's not that much worth recommending. The second segment was the most interesting one.

Liked the eightball segment the best. The zombie bit was just dull, and the robot segment was interesting but ultimately a bit unsatisfying.

It's an interesting 'collection'. The second part I liked the most. The eight ball was just silly, to be honest.

I almost gave up before the first segment even properly began, seriously just shave off 20 mins from the beginning and it might be watchable. In the end I didn't make it to the end of the first segment since it's so badly paced that it expects you to sit through crap waiting for something to happen, even if the other segments are brilliant I don't have the patience to sit through the first part and it lost any goodwill I might have had
