For what it is it does fine, but Dora and the Lost City of Gold knows its demographic too well to rise above the masses of family-oriented films in the marketplace today. I appreciated its occasional glimpses of self-awareness, but it didn't keep that tone up consistently enough to sell it as the intention from the filmmakers. Isabela Moner deserves a ton of credit for her chipper yet surprisingly multi-dimensional turn as Dora, but this isn't worth seeing unless you've got kids in tow.

It’s admirably the film it wants to be and its self-referential nature is judged fairly well. The story is very basic as is the direction, and I’m obviously not the target audience. Nonetheless it’s miles better than a Dora film ever had the right to be, even if it’s clearly not for me.

The best thing about this is that everybody involved knows how ridiculous it is to make a big budget Dora movie. The second best thing is Michael Pena. Dora and the Last Crusade manages to be a fun adventure romp, laughs at itself, doesn't worry to much about making a talking masked fox who swipes stuff fit in its "real world" universe and gives serviceable setpieces. It works its tongue-in-cheek for all it's worth, hilarious the first time through, perhaps less so for rewatches.

Self aware enough that it manages to be a pretty good time. Doesn’t ever rise above a dumb children’s comedy, but does rise to the peak of the form. Dora’s indefatigable optimism drives and carries the show throughout.

I have limited experience with Dora the Explorer, but my wife and kids adore the series. And no denying their enthusiasm affected me while watching this average, but charming, family movie. I give it credit. It loved to poke fun at itself. And they probable couldn't have found a more suitable Dora in Isabela Merced to carry this potential trainwreck. And that approach made it a lot more fun than I ever imagined it would be.

It's not always easy to score a film that isn't trying to be anything more than what it is - a family film...but this film mostly surprised me in what it was doing. Lots of smart, self-aware humor in the dialogue that adults can definitely have a good time with. But yeah, super overdone plot, and that monkey looks like crap.

Self-aware in just the right sort of way to work. To the extent it could work.

Fun kids' movie like Jumanji. Or maybe it's the other way around. They spent time explaining a bunch of Dora tropes (often in funny winking ways) but never explained Swiper. Michael Pena was funny in his limited screen time. Isabela Merced was so positive. Boots looked bad. Didn't care for the 2 additional kids---they weren't necessary. Fav scene: high school dance with the sun was hilarious.

Some character development would have been nice, even if super cliched, otherwise a fun baby's first Indy/Tomb Raider.

Moner’s energy as the titular Dora makes the Lost City of Gold somewhat entertaining. Unfortunately terrible CGI, uneven writing, one-note characters, and a plot that is “inspired” by Indiana Jones but more predictable make this film not worthwhile. Weirdly the jokes felt like the writers were targeting teens, but the plot and action were pitched for younger children, resulting in an odd, unsatisfying mess.

Who is this for? Really young kids won't get the jokes, adults will be able predict every single twist since it's a weird Indiana Jones pastiche. It's too mature for Dora fans. Too immature for grown ups, too uncool for teens. Why didn't anyone stop this?

Recommended for persons who left the theater after Cats saying, 'I don't know what the fuck Universal was thinking but I'm glad they blew $100MM on this.'

Oyunculuklar acemice. Filmin sonunda, Paraparta bulunur. Hazine bulunur. Sonra bırakılır. 1 sürü saçma olaydan sonra. Nickelodeon, kahve yerine başka 1 şey içiyor?

I'm not sure what age group this was aimed for. Some parts involve humor or situations that are a little too mature for younger kids, but older kids are sure to find this too silly. Not a good representation of the show.

Cute kids movie, unfortunately includes couple unpronounced swearings.
