Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur

I haven't watched the original version from the 1980, so I cannot compare them. Anyway, I think this movie is really beautiful. It has a good animation, and what's more, it teaches various things like responsibility for your actions, caring for your pet etc. I'll definitely show it to my kids when I have them.

The film has a lovely beginning which follows a childlike logic-- Nobita digs up a dinosaur egg in a neighbor's yard, he keeps it in his futon to warm it up, after the dinosaur hatches he feeds it pieces of his dinner, and so on. The first twenty minutes are the best part of the film. The later action scenes feel a bit too brief and half-hearted to really make the second half work.
