Douro, Faina Fluvial

Beautiful images throughout, but not consistently enough given that those images are all it has going for it.

A mildly less urban sort of city symphony. Not exactly the most polished example of the genre, but there's a bit of cheek, and the subject is certainly picturesque.

the highly acclaimed and extremely prolific portuguese director MANOEL DE OLIVEIRA died a few days ago on april 2, 2015, age 106, so i will be watching a few of his films. he started making them in 1927, and this is the first one he completed: an elementary 18 minute city symphony of his home town with a few good shots of sea and steel. the last film he completed before his death was released in 2014.

I can see the beauty in it, but these montage/documentaries rarely interest me.
