Down Mexico Way (1941) is pretty much what you'd expect from a Gene Autry vehicle. The Hollywood swindlers plot is just a backdrop and a excuse to go to Mexico and sing a few songs with beautiful women. A lot of fun, but oh so pointless at the same time.
