Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets

Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets has an intriguing premise, but never really drew me in. The film employs a chaotic barrage of stylistic choices including internal monologues, augmented daydreaming sequences & flashbacks to illustrate the protagonist's severe anxiety disorder, but leaves him alienating rather than sympathetic. The awkward internalising of adolescent thinking is done well, and the cast is good, but the humour didn't work for me, nor did the warm-colour-palette/ hipster aesthetic.
